As a gamer who’s been through countless hours of Westeros wars and White Walkers in Game of Thrones, I can’t help but feel my heart racing at the latest revelation from House of the Dragon Season 2. Daemon’s haunting visions have always been intriguing, but the finale’s prophecy took it to a whole new level. The arrival of Brynden Rivers, the Three-Eyed Raven, sends chills down my spine!
Caution: This post reveals CRITICAL REVEALS from House of the Dragon Season 2’s final episode! Proceed with care if you don’t wish to be spoiled…
In the scene from Game of Thrones, we got a good look at both the Night King and Daenerys Targaryen. However, there was another intriguing Targaryen character introduced – Brynen Rivers, who later becomes the Three-Eyed Raven. This young man with silver hair and a distinctive deep red mark on his face is actually Aegon IV’s bastard son.
In George R.R. Martin’s universe, the character known as the Three-Eyed Raven (or three-eyed crow in the books) is the last surviving greenseer in Westeros. His ability to foresee events makes him crucial in the battle against the Night King and threats beyond the Wall. Similar to the Night King and Daenerys, Brynden appears after Daemon’s era, which means this entire scenario unfolds in the future rather than his past.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but admire Brynden, who is often recognized by the distinctive birthmark on his face that gave him the ominous moniker, the Blood Raven. In George R.R. Martin’s epic tales, Brynden is one of several acknowledged bastards born to King Aegon IV, a fact that earned him the nickname Rivers. Known for his exceptional archery skills and rumored to have supernatural powers, this remarkable character ultimately ventured to the Wall and ascended to the position of Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. Serving with unwavering dedication for an impressive 13 years, Brynden eventually vanished, leaving behind a mystery north of the Wall.
In “Game of Thrones,” the character portraying The Raven switched actors – Struan Rodger took on the role during Season 4, while Max von Sydow stepped into it for Season 6.
According to George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood”, the series “House of the Dragon” takes place 200 years prior to the events depicted in “Game of Thrones”. In its second season, Westeros finds itself on the edge of a devastating civil war as the Green and Black Councils clash over the rule of King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra. New episodes of “House of the Dragon” air every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be part of the ensemble for House of the Dragon! In this epic tale, you’ll see me portray Prince Daemon Targaryen, Matt Smith; Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower, Olivia Cooke; Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy; Princess Rhaenys Targaryon, Eve Best; Lord Corlys Velaryon, Steve Toussaint; Ser Criston Cole, Fabien Frankel; Prince Aemond Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell; King Aegon II Targaryen, Tom Glynn-Carney; Mysaria, Sonoya Mizuno; and Ser Otto Hightower, Rhys Ifans. Can’t wait to bring these characters to life on screen!
