I’m currently witnessing the unfolding of Season 2 for the popular series “Solo Leveling,” which has kicked off the highly anticipated Jeju Island Arc. The initial episodes showcased an original scene depicting the turmoil on the island during the third raid, caused by a break in the S-Rank dungeon. This scene was strategically placed to drum up excitement for this arc, emphasizing its importance within the storyline. Despite taking place three years ago, Korea is still grappling with the aftermath of that tragic event. Our protagonist, Choi Jongin, has been tirelessly working to secure approval for a fourth raid, gathering enough support from fellow hunters to vanquish all the monsters on the island. As we delve deeper into this arc, Korea receives aid from Japanese Hunters as well.
The storyline really kicks off in Season 2’s ninth episode, though it was more of an introduction. It isn’t until the tenth episode that the action truly starts, as the Hunters enter the scene, armed and prepared for a decisive victory. However, there was an unexpected twist when the Queen gave birth to a monstrous Ant King, their most formidable opponent yet. This Ant King, who would later be known as Beru, makes his debut in Season 2 Episode 10. The anime has given him a new look in the episodes that follow.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Finally Gives Beru the Menacing Look He Deserves
Beru stands out as one of the most beloved characters in the series, and his debut during the Jeju Island Arc positions him as the strongest antagonist encountered thus far. Contrary to popular expectation, Beru emerged from his shell with a minimalistic blue aesthetic – a softer color palette and monochromatic style that differed significantly from the villainous image manhwa enthusiasts anticipated. Remarkably, his design was even less complex than Baran’s, whose characterization in the Solo Leveling manhwa didn’t impress nearly as much.
Fortunately for fans, the anime adaptation of “Solo Leveling” managed to avoid repeating a previous mistake in Season 2, Episode 11’s sneak peek. Beru, who appears menacing as he should, is surrounded by an aura that makes him seem like a looming catastrophe. At the moment, the Hunters are unaware of his existence, but their peace will be shattered when Beru decides to act. His emergence poses a grave threat to the world, as even the combined might of the S-Rank Hunters may not be enough to contain him.
The summary for Season 2 Episode 11, along with accompanying images, can be found on the anime’s official website. This episode suggests that the hunters find themselves in a vulnerable position, with Beru’s immense power making them the pursued. As the end of the battle approaches, the outcome seems to hinge on Jinwoo, who is yet to arrive at the island. Despite this, Jinwoo has dispatched his shadows and some of the hunters as a precautionary measure in case things take a turn for the worse. Initially, Jinwoo declined to participate in the raid out of concern for his family.
