As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t help but feel exhilarated about the upcoming movie, “Captain America: Brave New World.” This installment promises to be a game-changer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Falcon stepping into the shoes of Captain America following Steve Rogers. However, it won’t be an easy ride for Sam, as there are forces at play who don’t want him to become the symbol of America or are ready to redefine American values to unacceptable extremes for true heroes.
But that’s not all! The geopolitical landscape isn’t the only aspect of the MCU that “Captain America: Brave New World” will significantly expand. Other elements hinted in the film suggest that this could be a turning point for the Captain America series, potentially paving the way for massive developments within the franchise as a whole. I, for one, can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
Here Are 3 Ways Captain America: Brave New World can completely change the MCU.
The New Mythic Metal
Last year at events like San Diego Comic-Con, sneak peeks were shared from the movie Captain America: Brave New World which hinted at the introduction of Adamantium in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It appears that this legendary metal will be obtained from the body of Tiamut the Communicator, a Celestial who perished during the climax of Eternals as it was trying to emerge.
When Adamantium enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it significantly shifts the dynamics of global economies and arms races. Fans of Marvel are familiar with the formidable weaponry, both living and mechanical, that can be created from Adamantium – such as the infamous “Weapon X” who will join the series. However, beyond enhancing weaponry and armor technology, the emergence of Adamantium will drastically alter a crucial aspect of the MCU: Wakanda. With other nations now capable of utilizing a metal stronger than Vibranium, Wakanda’s status as a global superpower may be threatened. In Black Panther 3, we might see Wakanda more vulnerable and technologically outmatched than ever before.
That’s Bad Government!
In Captain America: Brave New World, there appears to be a hint that the malevolent aspects or hidden truths within the U.S. government might still be uncovered.
In essence, the pivotal role that the character Samuel Sterns/The Leader plays in “Captain America: Brave New World” could significantly impact the film’s overall success or failure. The screenplay should intricately weave a complex plot around this villain, as he manipulates people and circumstances to advance his nefarious objectives. Given his intelligence and psychic abilities, The Leader is expected to provoke geopolitical conflicts among nations, sow discord within the US government, and potentially strain the alliance between world leaders and their freedom-fighting heroes (as hinted below). If successfully executed, The Leader’s plot, which has been brewing since the events of “The Incredible Hulk,” could drastically alter the geopolitical landscape within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Avengers No More?
A key curiosity among fans regarding “Captain America 4” is whether it will unveil the present condition of the Avengers squad. It’s hard to believe, but it’s been six years since The Avengers have made any significant screen appearance (excluding “Endgame”). Previews for “Brave New World” suggest that President Thaddeus Ross (played by Harrison Ford) is pushing Sam Wilson/Captain America to assemble a new, government-backed team of Avengers. Additionally, the poor outcome of the Avengers reconstruction, hinted at by Captain America’s battle against Red Hulk, supports this assumption.
In “Brave New World,” it’s uncertain whether Sam will represent America as its iconic figure or chart his own heroic path independently. If the latter happens, it might pose challenges in establishing a new Avengers team. Some Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans speculate that the upcoming movie, “Thunderbolts,” could revolve around Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character, Valentina, who may assemble a black ops or superpowered group as a trial run for her own version of the Avengers. This doesn’t necessarily mean the end of heroes like Sam Wilson, Shang-Chi, and others; they might simply need to form a new type of team or possibly, a younger generation of Avengers could take over.
Captain America: Brave New World has a release date of February 14th.
