How Fatherhood Changed Big Time Rush’s Band Dynamics and Tour Plans

Big Time Rush is putting the band back together…with the addition of a few new members.

The entertainers Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega are preparing to embark on a global tour titled Big Time Rush In Real Life Worldwide Tour, based on their popular Nickelodeon series. They plan to perform every song from each episode in more than 50 cities this summer, with a subsequent European leg in November. The previous cast members Stephen Kramer Glickman and Katelyn Tarver, known for portraying Gustavo and Jo respectively, will serve as the opening act.

Also joining in on the fun are a few extra special guests—Schmidt’s and PenaVega’s kids.

PenaVega explained to TopMob News in an exclusive chat that his vehicles are a bit more seasoned than Kendall’s, earning them the nickname “road warriors.” He, who is father to Ocean (6), Kingston (5), and Rio (3) with actress Alexa PenaVega, shared that their car recently brought back memories of tour for King when they rolled down the windows and he remarked, “Daddy, it smells like we’re on tour.

Schmidt, who co-parents an 11-month-old child named Maple with Mica von Turkovich, openly discussed the impact of parenthood on the dynamics within their band.

Schmidt underscored that “changes occurred simply due to shifting priorities.” He explained, “For instance, if our plans had been to spend more time together in the evening, that’s not feasible. We all have obligations and responsibilities.

PenaVega mentioned that despite not getting a lot of time with each other, the band’s connection remains just as robust as before.

PenaVega put it this way: ‘We don’t let each other go. We’re like siblings – we quarrel, we care deeply, we succeed together, it’s a bond.’ And surprisingly enough, the stage and the road are where we both feel most at ease,” PenaVega said.

Schmidt expresses his intention to connect with his daughter deeply by imparting his love for music to her.

When you become a parent, you often subtly introduce things to your child with the hope they’ll develop an interest in them,” he said to TopMob. “I’ve been offering my daughter miniature synthesizers, models that are simpler for her age. She may not understand what it does yet, but I’m secretly hoping she takes a liking to it and learns how to use it eventually.

Apart from sharing their plans for returning to the recording studio to produce fresh tunes, the group additionally mentioned some artists they would be thrilled to work together with.

Growing up, we were acquainted with Ariana Grande; she’s truly impressive. We shared the limelight on Nickelodeon and her voice is simply extraordinary.

In addition to mentioning Miley Cyrus (formerly of the Disney Channel) and The Jonas Brothers as ideal collaborations, Schmidt described it as “an unusual yet exciting prospect.
