How Minka Kelly Outsmarted Josh Duhamel Over Ransom Canyon Pay!

Minka Kelly knows her worth.

Not long after Josh Duhamel secured a part in Netflix’s new western romance series “Ransom Canyon,” the actress from “Friday Night Lights” was asked to participate in a chemistry reading, which eventually led to an offer for her to appear alongside Josh Duhamel. However, prior to officially agreeing to the role, she needed to discuss equal pay with her male co-star.

After a series of intense discussions, as reported by Deadline, it wasn’t entirely possible for Minka to match Josh’s earnings, but boy, let me tell you, she conveyed the network’s eagerness to bridge the wage disparity!

In a recent interview with Deadline, published on April 18th, Minka expressed that one of the greatest advantages of working with Netflix is their strong support for such practices. She added that she didn’t need to put up much resistance in this regard.

She went on to say, ‘They’ve actually simplified it quite a bit.’ She expressed her gratitude for working with a company that truly prioritizes such concerns.

TopMob News has reached out to Netflix for comment but has not heard back.

The show, stemming from a series of novels penned by Jodi Thomas, centers around three rival ranching clans in a quaint Texas Hill Country settlement. In this narrative, Josh portrays Staten Kirkland, a rancher, while Minka assumes the role of Quinn O’Grady, the dancehall proprietor who is not only a friend of Staten’s but has a longstanding familial connection as well. The town itself is brimming with love triangles, disputes, feuds, and, above all, secrets.

Although some have drawn parallels between the Montana-based drama and “Yellowstone,” a series about the owners of the largest cattle ranch in the same state, the actress from “Roommate” highlighted that “Ransom Canyon” stands out as a distinct entity on its own.

In a recent joint interview, Minka explained to TopMob News, “I believe they’re playing in the same sandbox, but Ransom is something distinct. It’s an entirely separate universe of its own.

She elaborated, “You have the essence of family, romance, stunning vistas, a touch of cowboy culture, and horseback riding. It encompasses emotions like love, heartache, and deception. These characters will navigate their paths, discovering their purpose and harnessing their power.

However, unlike the storyline set in a Texas high school as portrayed in Friday Night Lights, Minka acknowledges that there might be a trace of similar intensity in her characters, as Ransom Canyon takes us to a small Montana town instead.

As she put it, “This is like Lyla Garrity 20 years later.”

In the meantime, Josh, who’s 52 years old, highlighted the show’s connection to its audience by focusing on the local struggles and intrigue contained within the town limits.

Josh commented on the complex history, particularly between the families portrayed by him and Minka’s characters. There is a palpable tension and numerous disagreements between them.

He went on to say, “The same issues just seem to persist. Regardless of your efforts to heal old wounds, the weight of our shared history makes it challenging to rectify the past. It appears that no matter how diligently you work, new problems keep arising.
