How Olivia Wilde Celebrated After Wrapping On Her Don’t Worry Darling Follow-Up

People have eagerly anticipated Olivia Wilde’s next directorial venture since the debut of her 2022 movie, “Don’t Worry Darling,” and the following BTS turmoil. Now, as Wilde has completed work on her third film, “The Invite,” I’m growing optimistic that we might see it in the 2025 or possibly even the 2026 movie lineup.

Just like I found myself in the captivating world of “Don’t Worry Darling,” I step into the director’s chair for “The Invite,” where I not only star, but also share the screen with heavyweights such as Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton. Reminiscent of my debut directorial venture, “Booksmart,” this follow-up to “Don’t Worry Darling” is a hilarious affair, weaving a tale about four couples on a double date that uncovers hidden emotions and unexplored desires, as the synopsis suggests.

With a black and white film photo of the director reviewing footage on set, posted to Wilde’s Instagram, the House actress announced they had wrapped production with the following caption:

Behind-the-scenes of The Invite. We’ve recently completed a 23-day filming journey, chronologically, with some truly remarkable individuals. At the moment, I find myself at a loss for words to express the significance of this experience. So, for now, I just want to extend my gratitude to every brilliant, kind, and hilarious soul who contributed to making this production a reality. I’m eager to share with the world the collective masterpiece we’ve created.

In the coming weeks, we can expect to learn more details about the upcoming experience, along with a preview. What’s even more remarkable is that they managed to film the entire movie within just 23 days, using actual film stock and in sequence!

This project seemed to have fewer hiccups during filming compared to her second directorial venture, featuring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh. There were whispers of a romance between Styles and Wilde on set, which turned out to be accurate.

Moreover, it’s said that the actress from “Thunderbolts” wasn’t pleased with Wilde’s absence on set, which may have sparked a rumored disagreement between them. After their time together during the filming of “Tron: Legacy,” Olson and Wilde dated for close to two years, but their relationship ended in 2022. Despite this, the singer behind “As It Was” spoke highly of his former girlfriend’s directorial skills.

Even with all the drama, Don’t Worry Darling had a successful theatrical release.

From the look of it, “The Invite” appears to have been shot in a relatively short timeframe without any significant issues related to cast dynamics, if Olivia Wilde’s caption is anything to go by. Given their strong professional bond, this isn’t too surprising as Seth Rogen and Wilde are well-acquainted.

Actress from “Drinking Buddies,” Olivia Wilde, recently featured in an episode of Seth Rogen’s acclaimed new comedy series, “The Studio.” Streamable with an Apple TV+ subscription, Wilde was among the actual directors that Rogen invited to portray themselves in this riotous tribute to Hollywood, often referred to as a “self-deprecating love letter.

It has been reported by the San Francisco Chronicle that the two lead actors were recently filmed on a San Francisco city bus during rush hour, wrapping up scenes for their upcoming comedy movie. Personally, I find it exciting when filmmakers opt for real-life settings rather than studio environments, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement when I learn that the highly anticipated film, “The Invite,” is backed by FilmNation, the very same production house responsible for the 2025 Best Picture Oscar winner, “Anora,” and the Best Picture nominee, “Conclave.” The pedigree of this project speaks volumes about its potential, and I can’t wait to see the magic that the talented team behind it will weave on the silver screen.

Being a fan of both “Booksmart” and “Don’t Worry Darling,” I am eagerly anticipating the release of director Olivia Wilde’s next project, as I have high hopes for her upcoming film. I can hardly contain my excitement!
