Just like I found myself in the captivating world of “Don’t Worry Darling,” I step into the director’s chair for “The Invite,” where I not only star, but also share the screen with heavyweights such as Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton. Reminiscent of my debut directorial venture, “Booksmart,” this follow-up to “Don’t Worry Darling” is a hilarious affair, weaving a tale about four couples on a double date that uncovers hidden emotions and unexplored desires, as the synopsis suggests.
With a black and white film photo of the director reviewing footage on set, posted to Wilde’s Instagram, the House actress announced they had wrapped production with the following caption:
Behind-the-scenes of The Invite. We’ve recently completed a 23-day filming journey, chronologically, with some truly remarkable individuals. At the moment, I find myself at a loss for words to express the significance of this experience. So, for now, I just want to extend my gratitude to every brilliant, kind, and hilarious soul who contributed to making this production a reality. I’m eager to share with the world the collective masterpiece we’ve created.
In the coming weeks, we can expect to learn more details about the upcoming experience, along with a preview. What’s even more remarkable is that they managed to film the entire movie within just 23 days, using actual film stock and in sequence!
This project seemed to have fewer hiccups during filming compared to her second directorial venture, featuring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh. There were whispers of a romance between Styles and Wilde on set, which turned out to be accurate.
Moreover, it’s said that the actress from “Thunderbolts” wasn’t pleased with Wilde’s absence on set, which may have sparked a rumored disagreement between them. After their time together during the filming of “Tron: Legacy,” Olson and Wilde dated for close to two years, but their relationship ended in 2022. Despite this, the singer behind “As It Was” spoke highly of his former girlfriend’s directorial skills.
