How Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s Kids Played a Part in Deadpool

As a new parent myself, I can completely relate to Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s experiences of raising their young daughter James. The first time I dropped my own infant off at daycare was an emotional rollercoaster for me, just as it was for Ryan when he took his daughter to Burning Man. The uncertainty and fear of leaving your child in someone else’s care for the first time is a feeling that is both universal and deeply personal.

The below contains spoilers about Deadpool & Wolverine.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively‘s kids are already off to a marvelous start in Hollywood.

In the movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Ryan takes on the role of Deadpool, and Blake appears in a hidden part as Lady Deadpool from another reality. Simultaneously, their children – Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and Olin, born in 2023 – have minor appearances in the superhero production, making them younger siblings to James, who is 9 years old.

In case you missed it, Inez stole the show as Kid Pool, while Olin was unveiled as Baby Pool. And for some amusing twist, Betty is listed as Hugh Jackman’s animal trainer in the credits.

Before the world premiere of the Marvel film on July 22, Ryan expressed his heartfelt gratitude for having such a close-knit team.

He began by expressing his gratitude to his wife Blake, who was present, before continuing with his speech on stage. He also expressed his thanks to James, Inez, Betty, and Olin, his children who were in the audience. He hoped that this moment, which might be challenging due to the film’s content, would be the most difficult experience of their extraordinary lives.

He added, “I love that my entire family is here.”

Could a fifth member make an appearance in the future, you ask? Ryan suggested it’s not impossible.

“According to Ryan’s humorous remark to TopMob News during an interview, the more people or things there are, the better. He expressed his fondness for welcoming as many children as possible into his home, bringing joy and chaos in equal measure.”

If you’re curious about Blake’s feelings, she’s expressed her excitement by joking about having another baby, making it clear that she’s on board as well.

Yet, she remains committed and sincere in her dedication to her husband of a decade, particularly with regard to his most recent movie project.

“To my Y2K girls, I really should be focusing on being competitive since ‘it ends with us’ movie is releasing in three weeks. but, when it comes to our middle school crushes, feelings after having a baby, appreciation for nice men who use feminism as a tool, love for The Wizard of Oz, Succession, Sandy & Danny, driving with Avril playing in the background, being moved by the choreography of a certain boy band’s song, and the Baz Luhrmann fireworks that mark significant moments – all these things are deeply ingrained in us… It’s incredible.”

I’m thrilled and can’t help but feel a sense of pride as a former “Gossip Girl” cast member, watching how much Deadpool has adopted elements from our world. It’s amazing to see the influence we’ve had on such an iconic character. And let me tell you, I’ve given birth four times!

If you’re curious about Blake’s feelings, she’s expressed her enthusiasm by already agreeing, and she’s even made lighthearted remarks about having a fifth child.

Despite this, she truly committed when it comes to standing by her husband of eleven years, most notably with his newest film project.

As an obsessed fan, I’d write: “I can’t believe it’s only three weeks until the release of @itendswithusmovie! But you know what? My middle school crushes, my feelings after having a baby, my thoughts on men who claim to be feminists, my love for The Wizard of Oz, Succession, Sandy & Danny, and driving with Avril playing in the background – all these things bring me so much joy. The way the choreography of a certain boy band song gets me moving, or how Baz Luhrmann’s fireworks perfectly punctuate a moment, it’s all just too relatable! And let’s not forget about our seasonally-determined hair colors and the French technique used to paint them. It’s like all these pieces of my life are coming together in this beautiful, chaotic symphony.”

The former “Gossip Girl” star remarked with pride, “We’ve left our mark on ‘Deadpool’ in so many ways, it’s not easy to resist pointing that out. I’ve given birth four times and have never been more pleased.”

Reynolds shared an amusing anecdote on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018, confessing that he and his daughters have watched Frozen countless times. He added jokingly, “Here’s a little-known fact: If you play Frozen backward, it’s surprisingly similar to The Exorcist.”

On December 15, 2016, Reynolds and Lively introduced their newborn daughters James and Inez to the public for the first time. This was an unusual move for the notoriously private celebrities, as they chose the actor’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony as the venue. In his speech, Reynolds expressed his heartfelt appreciation for his wife, stating, “You make everything better – absolutely everything in my life. You’ve given us two of the most wonderful children I could ever imagine having. You’ve turned me into the father I always dreamed of becoming, when I never thought I had the potential beyond being a great uncle.”

Back in August 2016, just before the arrival of our second little blessing, I shared with TopMob News my profound discovery: Nothing compares to the life-altering experience of welcoming a newborn baby into the world. It’s an indescribable source of joy and grounding that touches your soul in the most beautiful way possible.

The mother expressed her joy to NW Magazine in 2016, despite the challenges of diaper messes and vomit: “It can be tough, but having a baby is an incredible blessing. Even when I’m drained and overwhelmed, I remind myself of my good fortune.”

In an interview on The Late Show with David Letterman back in 2015, Reynolds expressed his deep affection for his wife and daughter. He emphasized the depth of his love, stating, “I’d give my life for you. I couldn’t love anything more than I love you.” This sentiment he reserved for his spouse. The instant he gazed into his baby’s eyes, Reynolds declared, “If we ever faced danger, I would put myself in harm’s way to shield that child with my body.”

Following in the tradition of his witty and dark sense of humor, Reynolds casually shared this parenting joke with his Twitter audience back in 2016: “Being a father brings the greatest joy known to earth. Excluding, of course, those lovely years I spent childless.”

Reynolds shared on the NBC’s Today show in 2016, “I’ve got no issue taking care of the unpleasant tasks. She does too, but I particularly enjoy the late-night wake-ups and handling those sorts of chores.”

Fatherhood, he said, has been “amazing.”

In 2016, Reynolds described one of those uncommon mornings when his daughter clung to him unwilling for me to leave, all because his wife was still asleep. It felt excruciating to even consider going.

In 2016, Reynolds shared an amusing anecdote during an interview. He mentioned that while watching the Super Bowl with his family, his daughter unexpectedly recognized him on the TV screen. To her surprise, there were around a dozen versions of him appearing, which seemed like double the number to her, resulting in her nonchalant response: “Whatever.”

It’s tough to let my baby girl attend her first solo outing, I was an emotional wreck when I dropped her off at Burning Man in 2016, Ryan quipped on Twitter.

In 2015, the proud father exclaimed, “She’s amazing!,” before sharing an update on their young child James’ development. He jokingly reported, “We’re getting plenty of sounds, but nothing that resembles clear English yet.” He playfully teased, “I tease her a lot.”

“Since the birth of our child in 2015, I’ve had an unshakeable belief deep in my heart that you were most likely its father, Reynolds,” Lively expressed on Instagram with the hashtag #ILoveYouSoMuchIt’sSilly.

Raising a baby is like experiencing the unpredictable every day. You never know when you’ll be faced with messes or joyful moments, or when a smile will turn into tears. It can feel like living with an unpredictable person. But despite the challenges, once you have a baby, it’s hard to imagine not having one. They grow up so fast that I’d still be a mother to a baby if I were 80 years old.

“Family is what connects us all, no matter how unique our professions may be,” Lively expressed in 2015. “It’s a beautiful bond that we all share.”

On Father’s Day in 2015, my daughter looked at me with a warm smile. This simple gesture was more than enough to fill me up as I prepared to embark on a six-year journey to pen down my thoughts on parenthood and share my experiences with the world.

I’ve found myself stunned before, having walked for a few minutes without even realizing it, as I shared with TopMob News during the promotion of my film “Woman in Gold” in 2015.

I’ve been there. I’ve experienced the exhaustion of waking up multiple times every night, only to be met with a goofy grin spreading across my baby’s cherubic face. It’s an odd sensation – one that leaves you feeling drained yet elated at the same time.

In my experience, there’s nothing more ordinary than sharing a moment, enjoying some beverages together, and then welcoming a new life into the world. However, during that particular occasion, I was stone-cold sober. Believe me, I found it quite amusing to make that joke in 2016.

“I’m constantly amazed by this phenomenon – how ordinary it seems yet how deeply significant it is. And I can’t help but chuckle when celebrities discuss their children in grandiose terms as if they were the first to be born.”

In 2015, Reynolds expressed his deep affection for James, who was an only child at the time. He admitted that many people have felt the same way, but he couldn’t help it – he was completely smitten with the boy. Reynolds gushed, “I adore him so much. It’s quite embarrassing. She has me under her spell, and I’d do anything for her. When she says ‘Dada,’ I’d even walk through a brick wall to reach her.”
