During the September 15 premiere of Sister Wives, the broadcast network offered some background information to viewers. Title cards at the start of the episode provided a chronology of filming, which was related to the passing of Kody and Janelle Brown’s son, Garrison Brown.
The note stated that the new season of “Sister Wives” started filming towards the end of 2022. Sadly, on March 5, 2024, Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison passed away. He was cherished by many and will be sorely missed.
The remaining part of the episode delved into occurrences that took place prior to Garrison’s demise, although a press statement for the upcoming season hinted at dealing with this loss.
In a poignant statement about the upcoming season,” the network shared, “they journey through this overwhelming loss, uniting to remember and honor his life.
Among their six kids, Garrison – the one shared by Kody and Janelle – tragically took his own life through a self-inflicted gunshot wound in March. His younger brother, Gabriel Brown, was the one who discovered him.
In the 18th season of Sister Wives, Garrison expressed frustrations towards his father Kody and Kody’s wife, Robyn Brown, in a particularly intense episode. Kody, who has 18 children with ex-partners Janelle, Christine Brown, Meri Brown, and current wife Robyn, has distanced many of his older children lately due to strict COVID rules and accusations of preferential treatment towards Robyn over their own mothers.
