As a gamer with over two decades of survival-horror experience under my belt, I must say that the final episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. From the heart-wrenching goodbyes to the nail-biting action, it had all the elements that make this series so addictive.

As a fan, I can’t help but echo Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol’s (Melissa McBride) sentiment: “Home is where the people we care about reside.” In the finale of ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol’, titled “Au Revoir Les Enfants,” their home became America. After reuniting at the Nest, where Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) sacrificed herself to protect her nephew Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), Daryl and Carol fled into the French countryside to find the boy before Losang (Joel de la Fuente).

In a timely fashion, Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney) and Codron (Romain Levi) showed up to aid Daryl in getting Laurent onto the aircraft, accompanied by Carol and Ash. Daryl subsequently protected the plane as Jacinta and her ATV-riding warriors tried to prevent takeoff by launching an attack on the runway. It seemed inevitable that the warriors would catch up with the plane, but Carol fired a crucial shot, allowing Ash and Laurent to flee – thus leaving Carol and Daryl stuck in France. As Ash consented to transport Laurent to the Commonwealth in Ohio, Jacinta committed suicide while watching the plane ascend into the sky above Paris.

Despite all seeming hopeless, Fallou managed to contact a Scottish couple at Demimonde who could assist them in reaching England. From there, Daryl, Carol, and Codron could find a means to traverse the Atlantic Ocean to America. Earlier in the first season finale, it was hinted that Losang would arrange a boat from Dover in Kent, South East England, bound for Newfoundland.

In their struggle against hallucinations and luminescent walkers, Angus and Fiona seized gas masks left by soldiers affected by tunnel madness, using them to assault Daryl. However, Daryl managed to eliminate Angus and Fiona before they could harm him. As Carol released Sophia and Daryl freed Isabelle, Codron vanished into the Chunnel, leaving his destiny uncertain.
