It’s no surprise that the game The First Berserker: Khazan offers two main types of missions: the primary missions, meticulously designed with multiple levels brimming with content, and secondary missions, which primarily utilize reused material. The bosses in these side missions are often rehashed as well, thus they don’t usually receive dedicated guides.
Despite some encounters being reused, they introduce distinct aspects. Certain ones incorporate exclusive maneuvers, while many begin in advanced form. This guide aims to assist you in overcoming each of these unique encounters. We’ll inform you about the novel features and direct you to relevant guides if they have been previously addressed on this site.
How To Beat Keshta The Unyielding
Location | Charnak Mountain Range |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Stormpass’ Phantom of Combat |
Keshta is essentially an altered version of the Blade Phantom. Instead of beginning in its first form, he initiates combat from the second form of the Blade Phantom. The moveset remains the same, but he doesn’t have any extra attacks compared to the original. For a comprehensive guide on how to overcome Keshta, refer to our Blade Phantom guide.
As a reward, you’ll obtain the Keshta Phantom.
How To Beat Specter Of Bhangau

Location | Charnak Mountain Range |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Night of Tragedy |
The Phantom of Bhangau shares all the same moves as Volbaino, but instead of jumping into the air, he vanishes and then materializes above you. This teleportation ability of Bhangau makes him a more challenging opponent since he can quickly close gaps in an instant. So if you witness him disappearing, be ready for his reappearance either above or in front of you. Regardless, stay alert and prepare to block accordingly.
Apart from his teleportation skill, Bhangau’s other moves were familiar from the Volbaino fight. For detailed insights on these moves, including strategies for defense, check out our Volbaino guide.
You’ll obtain The Happy Boy and the Deer item for defeating the Specter of Bhangau.
How To Beat Bearius

Location | Charnak Mountain Range |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Blacksmith’s Heirloom |
Bearius is a stronger, tougher version of the usual Wild Bear miniboss found in games. He packs more punch and can take more damage, but otherwise, he’s just another bear. If you haven’t come across him yet, here’s a rundown of his abilities.
This way, the text is easier to understand and sounds more conversational.
When fighting Bearius, take a moment before each of his attacks because he prepares for a while before striking. If he raises himself on his hind legs, expect a delay before the actual blow lands. His powerful stomp move, however, has an even longer pause. He’ll stand tall and then slam his paw down. It would be wise to time your Brink Guard by focusing on his head, as once it descends, his paw will follow shortly after, allowing you to parry the attack effectively.
Apart from his powerful paw swipes, he additionally possesses a strong upward punch move. In this maneuver, he scratches the ground with his claws before thrusting them skyward. Be ready to either Brink Guard or Brink Dodge once his claws make contact with the ground. He only maintains this position for about half a second. Generally, his stomp is preceded by a left paw swipe, followed by a right paw uppercut.

As a gamer, when Bearius stands tall on his hind legs and reaches out with his arms, you’re up against one of three moves: a swift body splash, a grab, or his powerful Burst Attack. If you spot the burst symbol, it means he’s about to give you a bear hug. And if you notice him twisting his head to his left, he’s gearing up for a bite with his jaws. In such situations, I find it wiser to swiftly dodge to the side and escape from his stance. Personally, I believe that this evasive maneuver offers the best chance of success against all three moves.
As a fan, I’d find myself wanting to dodge to his side and attempt to circle around him. If I dodge in another direction, there’s a chance he might close the gap with those swift attacks of his.
In simpler terms, if Bearius doesn’t attack you directly, he might roll to his side as a strategy. If you notice him pausing or seeming to freeze next to him, he’s preparing to roll over, which could potentially squash you. To avoid this, quickly move around to either his front or back. This maneuver will make him miss you entirely and leave him exposed, as every major attack from Bearius leaves him vulnerable for a brief moment. Moreover, Bearius primarily uses these big attacks (excluding mere paw swipes) in combat.
In most cases, Bearius’s assaults can be accurately timed with a Brink Guard, but they inflict a massive amount of damage. Consequently, parrying him could be quite risky. However, dodging effectively counters every one of his attacks and significantly reduces the danger. You can engage him using either approach, but in this particular encounter, it’s safer to heavily rely on dodging, especially if you are wielding a greatsword as your playstyle likely revolves around guarding.
You’ll get the Blacksmith’s Heirloom Hammer, which will allow you to craft weapons and armor.
How To Beat Xaldin

Location | Pell Los Plateau |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Human Xilence |
In simpler terms, you can think of Xaldin as Viper revisiting his initial form. Notably, this recurring boss starts off in the second phase of his first form itself. This means he retains Viper’s jumping attacks and uses every variation of his spear throw from the very start of the fight. Moreover, just like Viper during the second phase of his first form, Xaldin is extremely aggressive right from the onset of the battle.
To clarify, he doesn’t possess any unique moves and his attack patterns were quite similar to those of the initial phase of Viper’s first form. Essentially, he extends the second phase of that form across his entire health bar. For comprehensive details on all his attacks, I recommend consulting our Viper guide.
How To Beat Mutated Xilence

Location | Pell Los Plateau |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Final Conquest |
In essence, Xilence is essentially Viper’s second transformation, with minimal variations. The main distinction is that Xilence possesses slightly more health compared to Viper’s second form. Interestingly, the arsenal of attacks that Xilence wields is identical to those you might have witnessed Viper using in his second form. For a comprehensive understanding of both their movesets, I recommend checking out our guide on Viper for a detailed breakdown of its attacks.
You’ll get the Xilence’s Scale item for defeating Xilence.
How To Beat Bringkus

Location | Pell Los Plateau |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Pavel’s Final Words. |
In a nutshell, Bringkus is essentially Rangkus but with an initial shift to the second form. This means he can unleash fire-based attacks from the get-go of the battle and tends to use them often. To ensure success in this fight, it would be wise to prepare for fire damage mitigation.
Instead of stocking up on fire resistance potions and remedies, consider equipping yourself with the Executioner’s armor set as an alternative. This gear will provide you with essential fire resistance, making it much easier to parry his attacks during this fight. For a comprehensive understanding of Bringkus’ attacks, I suggest referring to our Rangkus guide.
How To Beat Yeturak

Location | Pell Los Plateau |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Escaping Linnon Mine |
As a fan, I’d like to share that Yeturak is essentially an evolved version of Yetuga, starting off in his second form. This implies he’s capable of tearing massive chunks of earth from the ground and launching himself into the air, aiming straight for Khazan early in the battle. His aggression level seems heightened compared to Yetuga too, so be prepared for a more intense confrontation. For a comprehensive look at his attacks, I’d recommend checking out our guide on Yetuga.
How To Beat Sergei

Location | Pell Los Plateau |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Last Command |
In a different phrasing, Sergei resembles an enhanced version of the Pell Los Guardian Knight. Encountering him might be an unfamiliar experience as he’s not a common adversary. He shares similarities with the lance-carrying Pell Los Fighter, primarily in his straight thrust attacks. However, what sets him apart is his use of a shield, which effectively blocks most of your attacks. The Greatsword packs a powerful punch that can penetrate through, and the Lance comes equipped with the Spiral Thrust attack, which pierces right through shields.
Sergei predominantly uses spear attacks, and when he charges at you, he covers a good distance. Interestingly, he often launches two consecutive spear thrusts, so if you manage to dodge one, be ready for another. Additionally, he’ll rush forward and attempt to strike you with his shield in a backhand motion before slamming it onto the ground. This move offers an excellent chance for counterattacks.
Instead of trying to precisely time and block every spear attack, it’s wiser to evade to the sides. This way, you can significantly reduce the chances of taking any damage.
How To Beat Gwydo

Location | Heart of Pell Los |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Unrequited Love |
In a nutshell, Gwydo is essentially an alternate form of Maluca. He’ll kick off the fight brandishing his katana, so you’ll have to deal with his swift drawing tactics right from the start of the battle. Interestingly, he’ll initially employ the same dual sword fighting style as Maluca, but with a more powerful twist on his dual sword attacks. In essence, it’s like facing Maluca’s second form all over again. For comprehensive insights on how to counter Gwydo’s moveset, refer to our Maluca guide.
How To Beat The Reaper

Location | Heart of Pell Los |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Atlante The Precise |
As a gamer, I can tell you that in this game, The Reaper is essentially an upgraded version of the Soul Harvester spirit, summoned by Bellerian during her boss fight. Unlike the Soul Harvester, who could only call forth the Renowned Swordman’s Shadow, The Reaper has the power to conjure a variety of spirits that Bellerian herself could summon. What makes The Reaper unique is that it doesn’t require building up skulls to access these summons, unlike Bellerian. However, don’t be alarmed by this, as The Reaper doesn’t overuse these abilities, so you won’t end up with an excess of archers and dogs cluttering the battlefield.
I mention that “mostly, it appears The Reaper doesn’t possess the ability to summon an Undead Assassin,” since I haven’t observed such a summoning from them.
When the Reaper summons spirits, counter them with broad, horizontal attacks, and you’ll find success similar to fighting the Soul Harvester. For comprehensive instructions on defeating the Reaper, consult the Soul Harvester section of our Bellerian guide.
How To Beat Mutated Rosha

Location | Heart of Pell Los |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Crimson Trace |
The altered form of Rosha represents an upgraded variant of the Tainted Constructs. Interestingly, you’ll come across this foe prior to engaging with Rosha in combat. Akin to the colossal spiders you encounter throughout the game, Rosha possesses a web assault that can immobilize you if it hits its mark. Swerving aside will help you evade this attack with relative ease.
Rosha will launch a series of seven vertical swipes moving from left to right, followed by a final stomp attack to finish the combo. The optimal response is to quickly run away from her so she misses her attacks. If you notice Rosha lifting her arm and running towards you, be prepared for a palm slam attack when she reaches close enough. Moreover, she’s capable of executing a powerful leaping attack as well.
Ultimately, Rosha’s Burst Attack is a straightforward move that involves extending her arm forward. Given this, it’s advisable to evade this attack by moving to the side. In fact, your strategy should be to sidestep during most of Rosha’s attacks and retreat when she initiates her extended combo.
How To Beat The Remnant of Elamein

Location | Heart of Pell Los |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Crimson Trace |
Ah, isn’t that intriguing? The Last Remnant of Elamein engages in combat just like its original counterpart. Similar to other phantoms you’ve faced before, it possesses a teleportation skill. What sets it apart is that it can deploy all of its attacks from the get-go.
If she moves aside, she usually vanishes and then suddenly reappears in front of you, executing an overhead swing, a spinning strike, or a shield bash. She always follows these with another attack. So, if she comes back with the overhead swing, be ready for her to follow up with an even more powerful overhead swing. She does the same thing with the shield bash and spinning move. Therefore, if you notice her disappearing, prepare to wait for her to reappear and defend against her attacks using Brink Guard.
Continue focusing on her, maneuver around to attack from behind, use moves that penetrate her guard, and you’ll defeat Elamein swiftly. By the way, she’s essentially the same boss as I previously mentioned, with those tricky teleportation abilities.
How To Beat The Netherworld Jocko, Netherworld Tigron, And Netherworld Aratra

Location | Heart of Pell Los |
---|---|
Associated Mission | Charon’s Chain |
In the course of Charon’s Chain, you’ll encounter a series of mini-boss battles. You’ll face off against Jocko, which is similar to the Yetuga and Tigron, a variant of the Wild Bear. Interestingly, Aratra will be in its second form and will possess a spectral teleportation move, a common ability among these bosses. However, the Netherworld versions of Jocko and Tigron remain largely unaltered compared to their standard counterparts.
Performing the teleport move significantly alters the dynamics of this battle since enemies will relentlessly close in on you, and it enables Aratra to swiftly bridge the gap between them. Moreover, it provides Aratra with an opportunity to retreat when exposed. If they execute their charging assault, they might teleport instantly afterward, then launch another attack immediately following.
In other words, they might not always get a chance to retaliate when they miss one of their strong moves. Moreover, this time around, Venom will be used on their limbs by Aratra early in the game, and it seems that body parts can no longer be broken. As a result, the battle against Netherworld Aratra feels distinctly different.
For a detailed breakdown of all these encounters, you can read our Charon’s Chain walkthrough.
