How to beat the Rancor boss battle in Star Wars Outlaws

As a seasoned space traveler and Star Wars enthusiast who has faced more than one Rancor in my galactic adventures, I must say that the Rancor boss battle in Star Wars Outlaws is a challenge worthy of any Jedi or smuggler.

You’ve been caught in Jabba’s Palace and he’s fed you to the Rancor. Oops!

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, if you’re pondering over the best strategy to conquer the Rancor boss fight in Star Wars Outlaws, consider yourself lucky – you’ve just stumbled upon the perfect guide!

If you recall battling a Rancor in Jedi: Survivor recently, it might seem somewhat similar. However, if your memory serves you correctly from Star Wars lore, particularly Return of the Jedi, you’ll know that a Rancor like Jabba’s isn’t meant to be killed during that specific timeframe in the Star Wars saga.

The Rancor doesn’t take damage from your blaster shots, either, so what’s the play here?

Keep on reading, or check out the video above, and we’ll tell you what to do.

How to beat the Rancor boss battle in Star Wars Outlaws

In Star Wars Outlaws, to conquer the Rancor, you should aim for the red barrels suspended around the room and moving on a complex pulley system, as they hold the key to its defeat when shot.

If you detonate a barrel close to the Rancor, it’s bound to get infuriated, which is precisely the desired effect!

When the Rancor is enraged, it rushes towards you. In such a situation, your aim should be to entice the Rancor to charge at the large doorway that Kay is attempting to flee through.

Alright, let’s go back to the old-school cinema vibes! Here’s how I would put it: “Hey there, we’re gonna channel Han Solo in the pit! Disturb those barrels, make that Rancor hulk up, and guide it to smash its way out – that’s our plan of attack!”

In other words, when fighting the Rancor boss in Star Wars Outlaws, you’ll find that the encounter is divided into three distinct stages, with each stage becoming progressively harder than the one before. Follow our advice to help you through it.

Phase one

From a movie lover’s perspective, aim for those oil drums overhead, then position yourself by the entrance. If, in a fit of rage, the beast charges straight towards me, I’ll swiftly dodge-roll to avoid a collision, instead letting him slam into the door. This action should initiate the next phase.

Phase two

Wait for the barrels to come back online. Just survive until they do!

Don’t fret excessively over the group of thugs assaulting you right now – even a Rancor is capable of dealing with them. Once the barrels are operational again, remember the method used in stage one and apply it once more.

Phase three

With Nix, examine the region to locate the electrical switch. You’ll find it’s situated atop a platform. Direct Nix to flip it back on instead.

Note that your electric gun won’t do the trick here. Only Nix can get the electricity back on!

Once the power is restored and the containers reappear, follow the technique from step one again – aim at the containers, break open the door.

After doing it three times, you will gain the freedom for a rather anticlimactic visit to Jabba’s throne room.

In essence, that’s all there is to it! Mastering the art of evasion in this situation might prove challenging initially, but rest assured, when you’ve got that skill under your belt, everything else will start falling into place like pieces of a puzzle.
