In Monster Hunter Wilds, the weather system adds an enjoyable challenge, but it can sometimes hinder your ambition to become the ultimate hunter (I might have mixed up my characters here). Certain monsters or resources only show up in specific locations, during certain hours, and under particular weather conditions. If you’re in a pinch and don’t want to wait, here’s a strategy:
1. Check the game’s map for areas where your desired creature or resource is likely to appear.
2. Look up the time of day and current weather that triggers their appearance.
3. Plan ahead by setting up hunts at those times and in those conditions, or be prepared to adjust as needed while playing.
How to change the weather and time of day in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are three different types of weather that rotate, and you can alter this cycle if you’re not satisfied with the current one. These distinct weather phases are called Fallow, Inclemency, and then Plenty. By consulting your map, you can discover which weather system you’re currently in, located just beneath the area name. Additionally, it will inform you about the estimated duration until the next change in weather.
If you decide to take a break, whether at a stationary base or an impromptu campsite, you can access the menu system, navigate to the BBQ Menu, and choose ‘Rest’ under the ‘Prepare a Meal’ section. Here, you can pick your desired time of day and weather conditions, but be aware that this service will set you back 300 Guild Points, so it’s a rather costly option.
As a weather enthusiast, I find inclement conditions particularly fascinating. These unpredictable times can bring about diverse weather events depending on your location, ranging from sandstorms to torrential downpours or even unexpected geothermal eruptions from the earth. Therefore, it’s essential to exercise extra caution during such periods.
