In the world of The Forge of Progress, following a heartfelt conversation with Dr. Dalin at the conclusion of A Long Overdue Visit, I’m instructed to pay a visit to Dr. Kryvenko at the ARL. My journey towards the lab sets the stage for The Forge mission, which unfolds moments later.
Leave the meeting room, make a right turn, and subsequently find the door on your left. This door will lead you outside into a spacious garden. Continue by veering to the right again, heading towards the building in the distance that’s been draped with scaffolding.
Dr. Kryvenko is standing near the lab doors, ready for a chat as you approach. When you pass the windowed area, have your conversation with him one final time. If given the chance, choose the option “I’d like to check it out” or simply say “Let me take a look.
After rejoining the main entrance where you previously encountered the doctor, proceed towards the door that was situated behind him, it has a single pane of glass. Follow the staircase up and then take a right to arrive at a control room. Pass through this control room, which will eventually bring you to a hallway containing an exit door that leads onto another open space. Go through the door on the opposite side.
Collect ammunition and healing supplies from the current room. Then, break down the yellow-painted walls to access the tunnels. Proceed towards the fan room, locate the uncovered vent at its base, and descend into it. Keep moving forward, utilizing every chance to go lower until you find a pipe releasing steam over a watery passageway.
Upon reaching the room featuring a spacious hole, toss a couple of grenades around to disperse the horde of rats. After that, proceed to the opposite end of the room, aim and fire at the lock on the ladder, causing it to fall down.
Make your way to the following bigger room, that’s where you’ll find the spatial anomaly. Regrettably, getting there won’t be a walk in the park. The primary step is to overcome the Burer mutant who stands guard ahead.
This Burer isn’t as durable as a Controller, and once you manage to break its shield, damaging it becomes straightforward. The optimal strategy is to employ a shotgun and get up close to the creature, since it has minimal defenses at close range and can’t sustain its shield indefinitely.
The mutant possesses psychokinetic abilities, enabling it to lift firearms and employ them for an assault. Additionally, it has the power to cause you to let go of your weapon, compelling you to retrieve it from the floor.
Whenever the mutant isn’t protected, feel free to attack it with whatever weapons are conveniently available. You can advance further by passing through the door bathed in red light that is located beneath the stairs.
Straight ahead lies a hallway illuminated by red light, which leads to a staircase. If you turn right at the crossroads, you might encounter a trapped scientist. Should you choose to help, there’s a mutant guarding him. If you manage to defeat this mutant, the scientist will reward you with a key to a supply room located on an upper level. The choice of saving him is yours to make.
Should you manage to rescue him, you’ll find the storage area on the right-side of the room, located at the top of the staircase. This room is stocked with a substantial collection of ammunition, edibles, and medical supplies.
Straight ahead, just opposite the storage area, lies a lengthy corridor offering an intriguing peek at the spatial anomaly. Follow the corridor, then take the stairs, and you’ll find yourself in the next room.
Now, let’s get to the exciting bit: The Guardian Program, which is a series of combative and platform-based challenges spread throughout four distinct areas for training purposes.
How To Complete The Guardian Program
In the Guardian program, your initial task involves staying clear of any unusual occurrences. A recommended strategy for this is to leap over the top of the shorter walls when possible. Utilize the larger steps found at the start of the room to ascend to those heights.
As a fan, here’s how I would put it: “To exit the room, veer left while navigating through the levitating panes of glass, ensuring to bypass any peculiar energy surges that may come my way. Upon completion, I’ll circle back to the right to locate the open door.
As a gamer, I’m stepping into the next room where it feels like an old-school arcade challenge. Four buttons are arranged before me, and the objective here isn’t just about pressing them, but in the right sequence to move on. The solution that unlocks the next level for me is pushing button 1, then button 3, followed by button 4, and finally button 2. Let’s give it a try!
Your immediate task involves two steps: first, eliminate a Vampire-like creature, then adjust some controls. Since the initial chamber belongs to the Vampire, take care of it before moving on. The subsequent room, however, contains harmful, radioactive fumes.
To shut off the gas, simply turn the cranks on the three pipes clockwise (to the right) until they are in the “off” position. You’ll find the first one straight to your right, just next to the main entrance.
Head towards the walkway situated across from the door. Hop onto it and veer left, squeeze through the grating, ascend a ladder, then glance to your left to spot the second crank.
The last crank is perched above a series of blue tubes, with a light and a red metallic “2” positioned nearby. To release the gas and move forward, rotate the third crank that follows it.
As a gamer, I’d say: “Head towards the lockers past the next door to pick up some health packs, step through the decontamination chamber afterwards, and then proceed through the following door.
Before moving directly towards your goal, take a right turn and head towards the bathroom. That’s where you’ll find a stylish Fora-221 rifle, an M860 Cracker, and the SSP-99 Ecologist Suit.
Progress through the laboratory rooms until you eventually come across the spatial anomaly. Leap in for an exciting journey through various dimensions.
Moving past the strange occurrence, you’ll find an underground base teeming with Snorks, peculiar creatures resembling humans but marked by skin sores and covered in blood. Make your way through them, maintaining a course to the right until you hear Hermann, the serpent-like entity, summon you from behind a barrier of turnstiles. Communicate with him via windows, and he’ll indicate a means for passage—be prepared for further perils ahead.
Go through the door to Hermann’s right, then move below the barrier that lies ahead on your path.
Descend and veer left, then, upon reaching the chamber with lifeless Snorks and drifting glass, move towards the opposite side, either via the peculiarities or by circumnavigating them. Proceed until you encounter the stairs, and ascend. Beyond another set of doors lies Hermann, brimming with tales and an additional spatial anomaly to traverse.
After passing through the anomaly, you’ll initially encounter a menacing swarm of mutated pigs, followed by a confined space with a chimera. Fortunately, the third teleport will return you to the relatively secure area known as the Zone. Once you exit the SIRCAA facility, you’ll have successfully completed The Forge of Empires mission.
