How To Defeat Viper in The First Berserker Khazan?

Uncover essential details about the primary antagonist, Viper, in The First Berserker Khazan, including tips on how to effortlessly conquer it, and much more!

As a dedicated player, I must admit that Viper poses an immense challenge early on in The First Berserker Khazan’s main story. Despite being the final boss of Chapter Three, it seems more like the game’s ultimate adversary. It’s a formidable foe with two distinct phases, delayed attacks, and devastating multi-hit combos that can swiftly knock out Khazan with a single string of blows.

As head of the Dragonkin tribe, Viper is designed to be imposing and demanding. The initial stage of this boss battle can be managed, but it’s in the latter part that things get tough – assuming you reach that point in the fight. Interestingly, the first phase of the encounter is nearly as durable as the second one, making this multi-phase combat particularly difficult to endure.

It’s fortunate that the Viper comes with numerous vulnerabilities which you can effortlessly leverage to gain an upper hand against the boss. Here’s a detailed tutorial on how to swiftly conquer the Viper within The First Berserker Khazan.

How To Unlock Viper in The First Berserker Khazan?

In the third mission of Embars, Viper is the pinnacle enemy, or final boss, in Khazan’s Berserker saga that cannot be bypassed if you want to advance the main storyline. As the head of the Dragonkin who have overtaken the ruins of Embar, Viper possesses immense power and commands his fellow Dragonkin. Besides being a powerful leader, Viper wields a mystical artifact known as a Dragon Scale, a relic possibly from Hismar. He uses this scale as the point of his spear, but it’s also the talisman that triggers the transformation of the Dragonkin into an otherworldly monster, altering its left arm and granting it the strength of the Berserk Dragon. Interestingly, the Dragon Scale is also Viper’s main vulnerability.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that similar to other beasts in this game, Viper has specific vulnerable points. These are the boss’s horns and the Dragon Scale on its spear. If I can successfully parry enough of its attacks, it weakens the spear. Additionally, if I focus on dealing damage head-on, I can break its horns. The main objective in the first phase is to crack these weak points as swiftly as possible, which will stagger Viper and allow me to unleash a massive amount of damage on it.

During the second stage of combat, Viper loses some of his agility but becomes incredibly aggressive, making it tough for opponents to inflict much damage. In this phase, he sometimes veils the battlefield in darkness and launches a sequence of charging assaults. Notably, during this phase, the boss’s vulnerable point is its arm, which can be temporarily stunned by breaking it. This will also decrease the amount of damage it can dish out with its attacks.

Strategy To Defeat Viper

In terms of weapon choices for the Viper character, we strongly suggest either the Dual Wield or Spear. These weapons provide great maneuverability, but they deal slightly less damage compared to the Greatsword. However, being agile and swift in battle is crucial against the Viper, as it will significantly aid your performance.

In regards to the Spear, our top advice is to completely invest in the Moonlight Stance tree, as this will serve as your main source of damage. During the initial phase, position yourself near the boss’s front and inflict damage on it during its 3-hit and 5-hit combos. It’s crucial to remember that you can evade all attacks within these combos, except for the final one. You should aim to parry this last attack of a multi-hit combo, as it will significantly stagger the boss.

When I’ve drained the boss’s vitality meter (Fortitude Gauge), I recommend unleashing a fierce frontal attack (Brutal Strike) straight on. This tactic is particularly effective for shattering the Viper’s horns and causing it to stumble. Keep an eye out, as when the Viper’s health drops close to 50%, it’ll launch a tornado assault. In such instances, it’s crucial to evade. Once the Viper starts spinning its spear, my advice is to move as far away from the boss as possible. After the tornado combo, the Viper tends to become more aggressive. However, breaking its horns significantly reduces the number of attacks it can unleash.

During stage two, your main focus should shift towards staying alive and inflicting damage using Burst Counters. Here’s an in-depth guide on how to effortlessly conquer the Viper.

Tips To Defeat Viper

1. Getting comfortable with the first phase might take a bit of time, but don’t worry, it’s not overly complicated when you grasp the combination patterns.

2. The second phase can be unpredictable, but that’s also when the Viper’s defenses are weakest. This means that if you utilize Burst Counters effectively, the Viper will become vulnerable to damage in The First Berserker Khazan. Here are some suggestions that should make it easier for you to defeat the Viper:

Phase 1

  • The Viper always starts the battle with a 3-hit combo that can be easily parried. After this combo, the boss gives a brief moment of pause where you can dish out damage. Capitalize on this opportunity by dishing out a full Spirit Attack combo.
  • Make sure to not only parry but also dodge attacks. Dishing out damage also hurts the Fortitude Gauge, as such, parrying isn’t necessary, at least in the first phase.
  • After dodging the tornado attack, the Viper always does a command grab, which you can avoid by dodging to the right (boss’s left).
  • Unleashing a Moonlight Stance combo followed by a series of Swift Attacks easily staggers the Viper in the first phase.

Phase 2

  • In phase 2, the Viper has access to a 3-hit combo, which it usually starts with. However, occasionally, the boss can perform a 5-hit combo at the start and end it with a Burst Attack. We recommend trying to parry these attacks and counter the Burst Attack.
  • Burst Counters are going to be the primary means of dealing damage to the boss. You can practice it on the Elite Dragonkin enemy right outside the boss arena or on the Red Phantom summons.
  • Performing a successful burst counter not only deals massive damage to the boss’s Fortitude Gauge, it also staggers the Viper.
  • Once the Viper is staggered, focus attacks on the left arm to break it as quickly as possible.
  • When the Viper shrouds the arena in darkness, hold block and stand your ground. You can deflect the lunging attacks, but blocking them is also a perfectly viable option.
  • Once the darkness subsides, the Viper will once again perform its 3 and 5-hit combos, which you can counter to get an easy victory over the boss.
  • For the Burst Counter timing, press the B or the Circle button right when you see the attack coming your way. You can also buffer the input by pressing it a few more times to get the counter registered.
