19 years following its initial debut, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been revitalized with state-of-the-art graphics for today’s gaming consoles. The sudden emergence of Oblivion Remastered seemed almost too good to be real, yet long-time Elder Scrolls enthusiasts and novices alike can now immerse themselves in Oblivion’s captivating narrative for the first time on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Following the prison introduction, your adventure in Cyrodiil continues with ‘Find The Heir,’ the second significant story mission. This quest will lead you to explore various distant locations on the map and even venture into another dimension as part of your search for Tamriel’s next ruler. Here are some tips to help you locate the heir and complete this main story quest!
How To Start Find The Heir
Immediately following the completion of your current main story quest ‘Deliver The Amulet’, you’ll embark on a new quest called ‘Find The Heir’. Once you have spoken with Jauffre about the Amulet of Kings, it is disclosed that the late Emperor Uriel Septim VII had an illegitimate son named Martin, who resides in Kvatch. As the sole heir to the throne, your objective is to securely retrieve him.
As a gamer embarking on this adventure, the trek from Weynon Priory to Kvatch might be lengthy, yet it’s far from challenging. Keep to the primary path and heed the road signs pointing towards Kvatch. Along the way, you’ll encounter a scattering of adversaries, typically no more formidable than wolves or rats. The Gold Road leads you through Skingrad, an intriguing city that’s worth a visit for some trading and rest before reaching your destination.
Arriving In Kvatch

As you ascend Mount Kvatch, it soon becomes evident that something is amiss within this town. To find out more, approach Savlian Matius. You’ll learn that an entrance to Oblivion has been unleashed, allowing enemies to flood through it. The soldiers are doing their best to keep them at bay, yet none who were sent through the gate have returned or managed to seal the portal thus far.
To rescue them and finish ‘Find The Heir’, it’s crucial that you first navigate through the gate. Closing the Oblivion portal is a necessary step in this process. Before engaging with Brother Martin, this task must be accomplished. This falls under the ‘Breaking The Siege of Kvatch’ mission. Once you’ve successfully closed the portal, you’ll gain access to Kvatch. Inside the church, Savlian leads the way; Brother Martin can be found on the right side of the building.
Currently, you have the option to engage in conversation with Savlian Matius, thereby initiating the secondary mission titled ‘The Battle for Castle Kvatch.’ This side quest becomes accessible once you successfully conclude ‘The Siege of Kvatch Breaking.’
After finishing ‘Breaking The Siege of Kvatch’, your character’s brother Martin and other Non-Player Characters (NPCs) may exit the church. It is crucial to engage Martin in conversation if they do so, as there’s a chance they could encounter a landscape glitch on the mountain that follows, which might prevent you from completing this quest.
As a fervent admirer, I find myself in the position of breaking some profound news to Martin. Initially, he harbors doubts, but my sincerity eventually wins him over as I reveal that his true father was once the Emperor. With this revelation sinking in, he consents to accompany me on our journey to Weynon Priory. Whether we decide to walk or take a quick teleportation leap, known as fast travel, is up for discussion. However, considering potential perils along the way if we opt for a stroll, I strongly advocate for the faster and safer option.
Returning To Weynon Priory

Upon your return to Weynon Priory, you’ll swiftly realize that it’s under siege, and you’ll have to find both Jauffre and The Amulet of Kings. Eronor is clueless about their whereabouts, but Brother Piner mentioned spotting Jauffre in the chapel. Once you’ve dealt with the assailants, make your way there, and you’ll encounter Jauffre. After taking care of the enemies, return to Weynon House to search for the Amulet.
In the chapel, be extra cautious because allies and foes are close together here, making it simple to unintentionally harm an ally. If you find yourself in such a situation, revert to your latest auto-save and give it another go. It’s also possible that Brother Piner could meet his end in this battle, though his death won’t impact any upcoming quests.
In this version, I tried to maintain the original meaning while making it more conversational and easy to understand for a casual reader.
Upon stepping into Weynon House, you’ll find that the amulet has gone missing, but luckily, Brother Martin is present, offering a glimmer of hope. Although no place can be considered completely secure for Martin, Jauffre advises traveling to the Cloud Ruler Temple – a secret fortress of the Blades, hidden close to Bruma. The Blades, who serve as the Emperor’s personal guard in Tamriel, will play a crucial role in safeguarding the new ruler, marking the start of the main story quest, ‘Weynon Priory’.
