Acquiring a decent weapon early on can be challenging, but there are certain quests available at the start that can assist in obtaining some. One such early game weapon is the Decorated Axe, a powerful one-handed heavy tool. You’ll first have an opportunity to acquire it during the side quest called “The Axe from the Lake.” However, keep in mind that the game won’t hold your hand entirely, so it might leave you feeling puzzled at times. In this guide, we will walk you through how to find the Axe within the storyline of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

How to Find the Axe from the Story in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

In “The Axe from the Lake” side mission, your primary goal is to retrieve the axe as stated in the story. You can trigger this quest by conversing with the storyteller in the Tavern at Tachov. Once activated, the quest will display a large region on your map.
Before venturing to the marked location on your map, it’s important that you acquire a Spade first. You can purchase this tool from traders or find it within the towns. After obtaining the spade, travel to the pier in the highlighted spot shown on your map.

After reaching the pier, follow the steps below to find the axe.

  • Follow the path from the pier towards north until you see an Oak Tree.
  • After Henry reacts to the Oak Tree, continue on the path until you see a rock on the left side.
  • Henry will react to the rock as well. Continue ahead and as you reach the turn where you can see the river, turn left.
  • You will see a grave on the left side.
  • Go over the grave and dig it using the spade.

NOTE: Without the Spade, you cannot dig the grave.

Once you’ve finished filling the grave, it’s time to engage with the sac in the burial site to retrieve the Damaged Axe. Now, the initial task has been completed, and the next step involves crafting the axe using the piece you’ve recently discovered.

Currently, return to Tachov and engage with the blacksmithing workstation. Move to the Axes section and pick the “Adorned Axe” recipe from the menu.

Be certain to complete the Blacksmith’s Quest titled “Wedding Crashers” before moving forward, as it serves as an introduction to crafting weapons.

To craft the Enhanced Axe, gather 1 piece of a damaged Axe and 1 type of Reinforcing Supply. The Reinforcing Supply can be bought at the Blacksmith’s shop. Once you have both items, proceed with the process of creating the Enhanced Axe.

Afterward, go back to the Storyteller and share that you’ve secured the Axe. Interact with him, and he’ll allow you to retain the axe permanently.
