In a surprising twist, Atomfall stands out as an extraordinary open-world action-adventure game that heavily prioritizes exploration. This atmospheric masterpiece, produced by the creators behind Sniper Elite, transports players to the idyllic Lake District in northwest England. It’s the 1950s, and a bizarre nuclear experiment has resulted in an entire valley being sealed off – trapping you alongside soldiers and locals who have become increasingly unhinged (unless they’ve undergone mutation).
This game is clearly “AA” in financial aspects, yet it shines where it matters most. It features excellent combat, sharp graphics, and an engaging plot that propels the game forward. The game’s massive, hand-crafted world offers numerous opportunities for exploration as well. Unfortunately, there’s a rather irritating bug that has been reported on Xbox.
Currently, the audio in Atomfall may unexpectedly stop, resulting in no sound. This can be frustrating in a game that heavily relies on stealth and ambiance, as sound is crucial for such experiences. However, Rebellion hasn’t addressed this issue publicly yet, and we’ve attempted to get information about a potential solution.
In the interim, my teammate, Jen, found a long-term solution that appears to be effective. Let’s walk through this Xbox Help Game Guide to learn how to implement it.
How to fix Atomfall’s audio bug on Xbox

To resolve this problem, adjust the auto-save timeout to be 10 minutes instead of its usual 3 minutes. It appears that any saving event might cause the sound to stop until you restart the game. However, if you change the timeout to exactly 10 minutes, it seems that you can save whenever you want without encountering the glitch anymore.
- While in game or on the main menu screen, go to the options menu. In-game, press the view button (two squares) on your Xbox controller to open the pause menu, where options is.
- Inside the options menu, the game section should already be selected.
- Set the auto save frequency to 10 minutes.
- Exit the options menu by pressing B.
- Viola, you should now be able to save without triggering the audio bug.
Note: As of writing, the only way to “fix” the audio bug once it has happened is to close out of the game, and manually reboot it by selecting it from the Xbox dashboard, hitting the view key, and closing the game.
Atomfall is unexpectedly awesome
If you’ve exhausted STALKER 2 or are yet to experience further improvements, Atomfall could be an excellent replacement. This engaging shooter offers a remarkable level of player freedom, and its intricately designed locations and intuitive exploration mechanics make for an immersive and enjoyable experience.
Atomfall is currently playable on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC platforms, and it has been added to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service.
