How to forge Talismans – Monster Hunter Wilds

Creating Talismans in Monster Hunter Wilds might appear straightforward initially, but it becomes more complex during high-rank hunts. Initially, Capcom made the process of upgrading Talismans somewhat confusing when Wilds was first released, to the extent that you can’t even tell what materials are required to improve your preferred Talisman.

The guide on crafting and upgrading Talismans in Monster Hunter Wilds clearly outlines the process and lists the required items even if they appear grayed out to you.

After uncovering Talismans, simply chat with Gemma at any base camp location, and select the “Forge/Upgrade Talismans” option. This will immediately bring up the crafting interface, displaying all the Talismans you can create along with the required materials. You don’t have a set limit for creating a certain type of Talisman as long as you have the necessary resources. If you wish to incorporate a specific buff or resistance in every setup, you are free to do so.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How to upgrade Talismans

In Monster Hunter Wilds, talisman upgrades don’t behave conventionally. While the option to upgrade is present in the menu, your ability to access it depends on whether you have the necessary materials. The game won’t display an available upgrade if you haven’t yet gathered the required items. For instance, if you desire a level 3 Fire Resistance charm, you won’t see it as an option until you’ve secured at least one Talioth Scale. Instead, the menu will indicate that your Fire Resistance is already at its maximum upgrade level, which is level 2 in this case.

Some gamers have mentioned an issue where Wilds don’t present second-level Talisman upgrade options in the Talisman menu. To bypass this problem, you can create the Talisman’s base form, then exit the Talisman menu and opt for “forging or upgrading from the inventory“. Select the Talisman option from that menu, and it should display the necessary upgrade options for you.
