In the world of Pokémon Go, PokéCoins serve as a crucial asset. You can utilize these in-game funds to acquire fresh goods, enhance your storage space, choose outfits for your character, and much more.

Luckily, you have several methods for gathering coins. Sadly, one method requires using your actual cash from the real world. Indeed, some smartphone games involve such transactions, don’t they?
Another approach involves having to deposit your Pokémon at a Gym. I’ll provide a fuller explanation of both techniques later on.

How to get coins in Pokémon Go explained
In Pokémon Go, you have two options to acquire coins. One is by purchasing them using real-world currency, or the other way is by leaving your Pokemon at Gyms.
You can accrue up to 50 PokéCoins daily by leaving your Pokémon at Gyms, and there’s no limit on the number of PokéCoins you can purchase if you so choose.
How to get free coins in Pokémon Go
The only way to get PokéCoins for free in Pokémon Go is to leave your Pokémon at Gyms.
In order to put a Pokémon in a Gym, you should approach the Gym (just like when interacting with a PokéStop or any other feature within the game). Once you’ve gotten close enough, simply tap on the Gym to enter.
On the Gym display, you’re now able to designate a Pokemon for this area. However, if there are Pokemons currently occupying the Gym, you might need to challenge them and defeat them before you can take control of the Gym.
Click on the button with the ‘+’ sign (you can identify it by the picture in the image above). Choose the Pokémon you prefer to guard the Gym, and you’re all set.
When you place your Pokémon at a Gym, it stays there until its motivation is depleted and it’s defeated in battle. Make a thoughtful choice.
The maximum number of coins you can earn a day for free by leaving Pokémon in Gyms is 50. Use this method often enough and you’ll have hundreds of coins for free in no time.
How to buy coins in Pokémon Go
To buy coins in Pokémon Go, you need to head to the in-game shop.
To enter the store, simply tap the Poké Ball icon positioned at the screen’s base. You’ll find the store located in the center among the five icons that make up the menu screen (the shopping bag icon).
Stepping into the store, I make my way down the virtual aisle until I reach the PokéCoins section at the bottom. There, I pick the amount of coins I’d like to buy and confirm the selection.
In the game, you’re informed about the price of every coin collection. Here are common prices for them in the United Kingdom for your reference:
- 100 coins: 99p
- 550 coins: £4.99
- 1,200 coins: £9.99
- 2,500 coins: £19.99
- 5,200 coins: £39.99
- 14,500 coins: £99.99
