As a seasoned Pokémon enthusiast who has been captivated by these enchanting creatures since their humble beginnings on the Game Boy, I must admit, the arrival of Gigantamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go has sent my heart racing with excitement! The sheer scale and unique designs of these behemoths are truly breathtaking.
Previously, we’ve encountered large, intimidating Pokémon, but with the introduction of Gigantamax creatures in Pokémon Go, we’ve soared to unparalleled levels of size and power.
In a similar vein, they resemble the Dynamax Pokemon that first appeared in Sword and Shield in 2019 and have more recently been introduced to Pokemon Go.
Yet, they also modify their look in this shape, leading to an array of fresh, distinctive styles.
In its ongoing evolution, Pokemon Go has incorporated massive creatures, making the already popular game even more exciting. However, as with any novel feature, there arise numerous queries regarding its operation.
Read on to find out what Gigantamax Pokémon are and where you can find them in Pokémon Go.
How does Gigantamax work in Pokémon Go?
In my opinion, during a movie-like review, I’d say: Just like Dynamax Pokémon, the Gigantamax forms undergo an extraordinary transformation. Rather than merely expanding in size, these Pokémon also take on striking new appearances that set them apart.
Over the weekend, the classic threesome of Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur made their first appearance in Gigantamax form within Pokémon Go. These special versions also include exclusive Gigantamax moves.
In your Pokémon collection, they’ll appear distinctly, meaning you can’t transform them into a Dynamax or basic Pokémon for now.
Although with the evolving format of Pokémon Go, who knows if that will change in the future.
Apart from utilizing these distinctive creatures in Max Battles, they are additionally equipped with not just one, but three Max Special Attacks.
How to get Gigantamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go
To capture a Gigantamax Pokemon, the current method available is by participating in a Max Raid Battle at a Power Spot.
Given the Pokémon’s impressive strength, being classified as a 6-Star boss, it presents quite a challenge. However, fortunately, you can team up with as many as forty other players, divided into ten teams of four each, to defeat it.
To enter a Max Battle, you’ll need to cough up 800 Max Particles too.
In combat, Max’s battles against Gigantamax Pokemon follow the same rules as regular ones. To launch an attack, your Pokemon must first accumulate energy, and you can participate in these battles only if you already possess a Gigantamax Pokemon or a Dynamax creature.
The whole process really isn’t that different, it’s just a little harder to win.
