How to Get Max Potions in MH Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, even the most skilled hunters may take a beating when battling formidable beasts. However, don’t worry, because Max Potions are there to swiftly restore your health and have you up and running again in no time!

In the realm of Monster Hunter: World Wilds, I’ve found Max Potions to be an exceptional choice for healing, far surpassing regular ones in effectiveness. Here’s my personal approach to amass a plentiful supply of these powerful restoratives:

1. Hunt High-Rank monsters: These beasts often drop Max Potions as rewards. The higher the rank, the greater the chance of obtaining more potions.

2. Carve the monster: Always ensure you carve the monster after defeating it, as this will increase your chances of getting a Max Potion as a reward.

3. Break specific body parts: Some monsters have parts that are more likely to drop Max Potions when broken, so focus on those areas during battle.

4. Farm lower-rank monsters: If you’re short on supplies, farming lower-rank monsters can be a good way to gather a steady stream of potions.

5. Craft them yourself: If you have the necessary materials, consider crafting your own Max Potions to ensure a consistent supply.

How to Craft Max Potions in MH Wilds

As a devoted player, I’ve discovered that Max Potions are not only handed out as rewards during the early stages of the main quest, but they can also be crafted by myself! To achieve this, I simply navigate to the Crafting List within the in-game menu (or from my tent’s Item Box), and then choose Max Potion from the displayed options. Then, I just need to combine Mandragoras with Catalysts to create these essential healing items.

Initially, the Max Potions recipe will appear as an unidentified one on your Crafting List. However, to reveal it, you’ll first have to obtain a Mandragora and a Catalyst.

  • Mandragoras can be found in all regions except Oilwell Basin and Wounded Hollow.
  • Catalysts are crafted by combining Bitterbug Broth with Honey.

As a gamer, once I’ve gathered all the necessary items, I’ll scan my Crafting List for a recipe that requires both these components. Once found, I’ll combine them to create a Max Potion.

Getting Mandragoras

An efficient method of obtaining Mandragoras is by utilizing the Material Retrieval feature within MH Wilds, accessible following the completion of villager side quests upon achieving High Rank. Characters Apar and Plumpeach will then collect Mandragoras for you as you engage in other activities.

As an alternative, you can find a good number of Mandragoras within the Crimson Woodlands. You can use the map’s filters to precisely locate their positions.

Getting Bitterbug Broth and Honey

Besides obtaining a multitude through the Material Retrieval system, you may also gather Plumpeach and Apar to search for Mandragoras. Once found, instruct the rest of your team to look for Bitterbug Broth and Honey. If the NPC doesn’t carry Bitterbug Broth, consider using Sleep Herbs or Parashrooms for crafting Tranq Bombs as an alternative.

Bitterbugs can be found for spawning in all areas except the Iceshard Cliffs. If you’re planning on collecting them manually, the Windward Plains would be an ideal choice. Abundant numbers of these tiny creatures populate the entire Windward Plains, so you can gather a large quantity by simply sweeping across the entire region (keeping your map handy for navigation).
