How to get Shadow Heatran in Pokémon Go explained

As an old-time Pokémon trainer with memories of catching ’em all from the very beginning, I must say that the latest addition to our Pokédex, Shadow Heatran, has me both excited and slightly daunted. The Fire and Steel-type Legendary is no small fry, and if you want to add it to your collection, you’ll need to be prepared for a challenge.

In the realm of Pokémon Go, the legendary creature Heatran, often shrouded in shadow, has made its appearance! If you’re keen on expanding your Pokédex, seize this opportunity and learn the right moves to capture it.

As a dedicated cinephile of the Pokémon universe, I’m thrilled to announce that Giovanni has returned once more, this time accompanied by the enigmatic Shadow Heatran! To seize the opportunity of capturing this Fire and Steel-type Legendary, you must first triumph over the Team Go Rocket boss. It’s an exciting challenge that awaits us all!

I’m sorry for any inconvenience, but it seems challenging because there are certain actions required to initiate the battle.

When you do fight Shadow Heatran, too, it won’t be easy. This is one powerful ‘Mon.

Keeping these details in perspective, let me walk you through obtaining Shadow Heatran in Pokemon Go, its vulnerabilities, ideal counters, and optimal moveset.

When is Shadow Heatran in Pokémon Go?

Shadow Heatran is in Pokémon Go now, and you can claim the Galarian Expedition: Taken Over event Special Research until 9:59am local time on 3rd December 2024.

This is when the current season, Max Out, comes to an end.

As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the “Galarian Expedition: Taken Over” event commenced on the 8th of October and is scheduled to conclude on the 11th, wrapping up at 8 pm in local time. Don’t miss out!

Fortunately, you still have the opportunity to acquire its Special Research story, initially available from the 8th of October, up until the 3rd of December in the year 2024.

The Shadow Heatran Special Research is added to your existing Galar Calling story (steps 9-14).

Once you acquire the Special Research, it will remain yours until completion, much like how other Special Research narratives operate.

How to get Shadow Heatran in Pokémon Go

To capture Shadow Heatran in Pokemon Go, you must first defeat Giovanni and his Shadow Heatran following the completion of the Galarian Expedition: Taken Over event’s Special Research.

This Special Research is added to your existing Galar Calling story (steps 9-14).

Indeed, it implies that you should’ve already accomplished step 8 of Galar Calling, a challenge not for the faint-hearted. Additionally, you’ll have to overcome a number of Team Go Rocket Grunts and vanquish all three leaders: Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra.

After completing all the tasks, it will be Giovanni who appears with Shadow Heatran as his strongest Pokemon number three. The responsibility of defeating him now falls upon you.

There seems to be an issue with the quiz, please try again.

What is Shadow Heatran’s weakness in Pokémon Go?

The Shadow Heatran is a Pokemon that belongs to the Fire/Steel type, making it vulnerable to Ground, Water, and Fighting-style moves.

Ground-type attacks should work best, as they are strong against both Fire and Steel-type Pokémon.

We’d suggest you bring your best Ground-type attacker to the Giovanni battle against Heatran.

Best moveset for Shadow Heatran in Pokémon Go

After obtaining your personal Shadow Heatran, you’d surely aim for the optimal move set. It’s likely that the ideal move set for Shadow Heatran would be Fire Spin and Magma Storm.

Fire Spin is an outstanding swift move with a strength level of 14, making it a pesky annoyance for opponents during Gym battles, Raids, encounters against CPU-controlled adversaries, and player-versus-player conflicts.

In other words, during both Gym and Raid Battles, Magma Storm delivers a powerful electric strike, inflicting 75 points of damage. For Trainer battles, it deals slightly less, at 65 points of damage.

Additionally, you will have the ability to unleash a Magma Storm after delivering Fire Spin four times.
