In the “The Confrontation Looks Like Hope” mission within “Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon“, making the right decisions and choosing your alliances carefully is crucial. Missteps may lead this quest to an impasse, but if navigated successfully, it could initiate a subsequent mission offering you numerous beneficial items.
Additionally, initiating the journey may prove challenging due to its enigmatic nature. To begin, you must converse with a Non-Player Character (NPC), but soon find yourself under attack by a horde of bees. Furthermore, one progression route is relatively accessible for lower levels, while the alternative requires substantial leveling up. We’ll guide you step-by-step through this and other aspects of the adventure.
Starting The Quest By Speaking To Broc
To begin your journey, you should approach Broc who can be found in the upper part of the map. By heading due north from the Ruined Market Square, you’ll ultimately encounter him. He stands near a bridge in that location.
The path leading north-west from the Ruined Market Square could be an option for your journey, but it passes through potentially hostile environments like the Forgotten Cemetery and the Abandoned Stronghold.
When you first talk to Broc, he’ll provide you with the dialogue options…
- “What Queen? What are you on about?”
- “Your attire is very… peculiar.”
- “Who are you?”
To advance in the quest, you’ll have to explore all available discussion topics. After that, you can continue with the journey.
Broc also runs a shop that you will gain access to once you have exhausted the dialogue options.
Finding The Swarm Of Bees
As a curious explorer, I venture across the bridge and set my course northward, guided by the sight of The All-Mother’s Shrine. A brief detour to seek her blessing feels fitting here. Continuing on, I eventually reach an eerie, luminescent hive nestled in a marshy expanse marked by four ancient stone obelisks.
I decide to delve into this mysterious place, and soon find myself enveloped by a swarm of unseen bees. Not being able to see them doesn’t lessen their presence as I feel their buzzing all around me. In self-defense, I swing my weapons in front of me, making contact with the elusive assailants.
After eliminating the bees, you’ll encounter another individual called The Ghost of Broc Meala, who will provide you with the Bee Queen Invitation. Prior to departing this location, collect the 10 Cobwebs from the hive. Nearby, there is a treasure chest next to a large skull that contains 23 coins and The Winter Prism (you’ll require some lockpicks to access it).
Return To Broc And Meet The Queen
Travel southwest towards Broc and convey to him the invitation. After a brief outburst, he’ll reward you with an extra set of his armor, earning you 500 XP. Skipping this step means forfeiting that 500 XP and the chance to obtain Broc’s second set of armor (although you can still acquire his first one).
As I take my steps northwest from this bridge, I can’t help but feel a sense of adventure brewing. Along the path to the queen, you’ll find an unusual bridge that crosses your path. Press on, and there’s a chance you might come across a chilling sight – a corpse lying there. Don’t shy away; if you dare, loot it and you’ll be rewarded with the Forlorn Frostbitten Bow, a bow that seems to bear the weight of a tragic past.
Completing The Confrontation Looks Like Hope Quest

Venture deep into the deserted hamlet, where you’ll encounter the Ghost of Broc Maela, the queen’s servant. Speak with him and prepare for a shift in dimensions. Once in this new realm, retrace your steps to the center of the bustling township. Here, enter the main structure. It is there that you’ll have an audience with the Queen. She’ll task you with eliminating Broc Maela. At this juncture, you have two paths to complete this quest…
- Kill Broc and then return to the Queen. You will earn 1000 XP, be given the Sting sword, and you will unlock the Gifts for the Queen quest.
- Kill the Queen and then speak to Broc. You will earn 1000 XP and be given the Sting sword, and get ten jars of the Queen’s Honey.

Choosing Broc’s allegiance means relinquishing a robust summoning spell and an extraordinary helmet since the Gifts for the Queen quest becomes unattainable. If your primary goal is collecting rewards, then opt for the Queen. Notably, the Queen exhibits far greater strength than Broc, making it relatively simple to defeat him at lower levels and acquire Sting – a formidable sword. On the other hand, slaying the Queen requires significant leveling up, but you’ll gain more experience in return.
Gifts For The Queen Quest

To complete this mission, you need to gather Queen Ethereal Cobwebs as your first assignment. By delivering these cobwebs to her, you’ll receive progressively better rewards. Here’s a list of potential rewards for your reference: [Reward List]
Check out our guide on how to obtain Ethereal Cobwebs to help this quest go smoother.
Ethereal Cobwebs Required | Reward |
---|---|
50 | Queen’s Honey |
250 | Queen’s Honey |
500 | Ghost of Broc Meala |
1000 | Queen’s Protector Crown |
After completing your mission, you have two options: Either let the Queen proceed with her scheme for global conquest, or confront her. Slaying the Queen will earn you 10 jars of Honey and an additional 1000 XP.
