As a die-hard fan who has followed The Pogues through thick and thin for four decades, I am absolutely thrilled about their upcoming UK tour! It’s been 13 long years since they last headlined here, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rum Sodomy & The Lash, it’s going to be an unforgettable experience.
For the past thirteen years, this Irish band has not headlined a UK tour as their own act. However, that’s about to change, marking their return with this upcoming tour, which is also their first since the passing of their frontman, Shane MacGowan.
The performances are commemorating Rum Sodomy & The Lash’s 40th anniversary, with the original band members James Fearnley, Jem Finer, and Spider Stacy performing the full album live.
In a press statement about the upcoming tour, the band expressed their intention to recreate the success of their 40th anniversary celebration of “Red Roses for Me” in 2024, this time with the addition of “Rum Sodomy & the Lash.
Music enthusiasts can anticipate hearing classic favorites such as “Rainy Night in Soho,” “A Pair of Brown Eyes,” and “Dirty Old Town” in the upcoming performance.
A number of guest stars are also expected to appear to fill in for MacGowan, who died last year.
