In Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon, the game generally steers you towards the main storyline. However, it’s possible to veer off course and create your own unique adventure. This could involve deviating from the usual path, confronting and potentially eliminating key characters that significantly impact your journey, or even causing chaos for fun – and Caradoc might want to stay alert!
Overcoming Caradoc won’t be a walk in the park, but with persistence and repetition, it can be achieved. We’re here to guide you not just in defeating him, but also reaping some top-notch rewards, accruing a few achievements, and earning trophies along the way. Rest assured, there’s no need for concern about any lingering resentment.
Where To Find Caradoc At The Island Asylum
Following Caradoc’s daring rescue from the Red Priest’s jail, you are free to roam the Island Asylum at your leisure. Yet, sooner or later, departure becomes necessary. Navigating without an indoor map can make it simple to lose your way.
To find Caradoc easily, follow these steps:
- From your cell, turn left and go to the end of the hall where a guard lies pinned to a chair.
- Once at the storage room, take another left and head down the stairs to the cells where the undead burst out.
- Continue to make another left here until you reach the locked Laboratory door.
- Turn right and cross the bridge overlooking a torture chamber.
- Turn right at the stairs and head down to the bottom where a Red Priest camps.
- Make a left to find a hole in the wall and Caradoc waiting for you.
While you can kill Caradoc here, it’s incredibly difficult and not recommended.
How To Kill Caradoc At The Island Asylum
The simplest method to confront Caradoc is to wait for him to return to the beach with you during the night. This allows you a chance to increase your level near the campfire, and then save your progress before taking on the challenge.
When the time comes, it’s crucial that your gear is prepared, including having spells at the ready and a bow as well. Aim for a surprise strike against Caradoc, then quickly retreat to a safe distance after the attack.
Be careful not to stray too far away! If you do, Caradoc may opt for ranged attacks instead of close combat, which will make things significantly harder for you.
If Caradoc manages to strike you once, it’s game over. To avoid this, you should either take shelter near the rocks or dive into the boat. If you stand on the crates so he can’t reach you, he’ll simply wait there while you gradually reduce his health points.
When I see his vitality dwindling, I’ll make every effort to mend my wounds. A well-placed headshot could halt this, but Caradoc might still trip or shift out of his predicament. Stay composed and adapt as necessary. Keep casting spells and firing arrows, and under no circumstances engage in melee combat.
The Burning Embers spell will set Caradoc on fire, dealing significant damage over time.
When Caradoc’s health points (HP) drop to zero, he will fall unconscious, but he’s still alive for now. Hurry up and rush to him and issue the ‘execute’ command before his HP recovers or you’ll have to restart from the beginning.
After he’s been defeated, I found myself rummaging through his belongings for a vital clue and grabbing all his equipment. Initially, it was too much to carry, but I managed to keep a few items on me to ensure my own survival. This action earned me the achievement titled “No Chains, No Destiny”.
Hold onto this armor! You’ll need it to unlock the Double Identity trophy/achievement.
From there, get into the boat and head to the mainland. There’s still work to be done.
How To Get The Double Identity Trophy/Achievement
After you arrive at the Southern Horns, leave the shipwrecked shore and move north-northeast from Blood Lake. You’ll encounter a trail that ascends to the Forgotten God’s Sanctuary. Before gaining access to the Beast’s Lair, you will see Caradoc perched on some rocks along the way.
I tried to make it more engaging and easier to follow, while keeping the original directions intact.
Be sure to put on every part of Caradoc’s Ranger Armor before approaching him for a chat. Feel free to ask him questions, as his answers may differ depending on past conversations. Nevertheless, he will inform you that you must obtain Excalibur yourself.
He won’t comment on you killing him or wearing his gear, surprisingly enough.
Once he departs, the prize or achievement will appear, and you’ll have effectively taken Caradoc’s identity and honor from him. Bravo!
Once he’s gone, the prize is yours for successfully assuming Caradoc’s identity and dignity. Great job!
Talking to Caradoc following the recovery of Excalibur won’t earn you an achievement, regardless of your armor. The achievement can only be gained prior to acquiring the second fragment of King Arthur’s soul.
