Atomfall represents Rebellion Development’s unique spin on the first-person open-world RPG genre, serving as their equivalent to Fallout, but this time featuring North England as the setting. It’s a daring and entertaining game that operates on their own engine rather than Unreal.
On the PC, the game performs smoothly and visually impresses. However, a minor inconvenience exists for all PC gamers when playing Atomfall: each time you launch the game, you’ll encounter a launcher window.
Skip the Atomfall Launcher on PC
Every time you start Atomfall, a launcher appears that allows you to customize various game settings, choose the DirectX version, and other options. This is handy when starting the game for the first time, but can be irritating in subsequent launches. To get rid of the Atomfall launcher entirely, you need to add a launch command to the game on Steam.
- Launch Steam and navigate to your library.
- Right-click on Atomfall and select Properties.
- In the General tab, enter the following command under LAUNCH OPTIONS.
-benchmark

Following this, the game will begin immediately without requiring the launcher to be opened first. This shortcut also applies if you’ve played games built using Rebellion’s Asura engine in the past.
This feature is largely benign and reminds us of the old computer games from the early 2000s, yet it’s not essential since the majority of gamers today prefer to tweak settings within the game itself for immediate insight into the changes.
Should you ever wish to reactivate the Atomfall launcher within Steam, all you need to do is eliminate the command from its launch options. This action will allow you to adjust the DirectX version if needed and you’re not satisfied with your current selection. Afterward, you can deactivate it again if desired; it’s as easy as pie!
In summary, Atomfall demonstrates that Rebellion is not limited to being just the Sniper Elite studio, and I applaud them for venturing into various game genres. What’s more, they are one of the few studios still committed to developing their own technology rather than adopting Unreal Engine 5. If you’re uncertain about the new game, it’s also accessible through the Xbox Game Pass service, enabling you to test it out at your convenience.
