As a film enthusiast with over two decades of immersion in the world of cinema, I find myself utterly captivated by this diverse and exhilarating array of upcoming releases! The sheer breadth of genres, from comedy to horror, action to drama, is truly a testament to the vibrant and dynamic nature of modern-day storytelling.
Get ready to roar with nostalgia.
Approximately 15 years following the debut of “How to Train Your Dragon” – a film with voiceovers from actors such as Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, and Kristen Wiig – this cherished animated story is set for a return to the big screen, now reimagined as a live-action masterpiece.
In the initial trailer launched on November 19th, the towering Viking leader, Stoick the Magnificent (played once more by Butler), encouraged his hesitant son, Hiccup, to step up and emulate his powerful legacy.
He said to the boy, “By taking this axe, you take us all along,” to which the boy replied uneasily, “Dad, I’m not ready to slay dragons.
As Mason Thames’ character, the young outcast, chanced upon a wounded dragon, he found himself in a predicament, unable to slay the flying beast. Instead, an unforeseen bond blossomed between them, forging an extraordinary friendship that was most unexpected.
“It’s OK,” he reassured the beast, “I won’t hurt you.”
The 2010 animated movie, inspired by the book series penned by Cressida Cowell, gave birth to a multimedia empire consisting of two feature film continuations, three television spin-offs, and multiple brief TV episodes.
Although viewers are excited for Butler’s comeback, the reality of filming the remake in person was significantly different from the ease of using a voice-over studio.
He shared with Collider that filming the project in Northern Ireland was particularly challenging due to the harsh weather conditions experienced during the December-January period. Surprisingly, he opted for an invigorating routine of taking ice baths each morning, as his hotel room had a window right by the bathtub.
However, following the 300 cold dips by the star, his wardrobe required a significantly warmer outfit due to the dropping temperatures.
He mentioned that he had seven substantial layers, a robust beard, and wore something like a bear or wolf pelt on top. This was incredibly heavy, almost unbearable. On the coldest day, despite being drenched from sweat due to the heat inside, it felt like a furnace.
The much-anticipated film, “Train Your Dragon,” takes flight in cinemas starting June 13, 2025. For now, check out this list of other exciting movies set to hit the big screen in the coming months!
