As an experienced wanderer of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, I must say, the PTM (Skif’s Pistol or similar) has become my go-to weapon of choice. The high-capacity magazine and suppressor make it incredibly versatile, whether you’re sneaking past guards in the dead of night or engaging in firefights during the day.
In your journey through Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, you’ll come across numerous potent weapons, but one constant companion will be the PTM, manifested as Skif’s Pistol. This reliable sidearm functions not only as a weapon but also serves as a quest item, ensuring it remains in your possession throughout your adventure.
In the Zone, there are numerous PTM pistols yet to be discovered, and these can be enhanced with unique add-ons and modifications to boost their performance. The PTM pistol, also known as Skif’s Pistol, can take you all the way through the game. An upgraded version of this pistol makes for a powerful secondary weapon that scarcely ever needs reloading.
How To Upgrade The PTM
You can upgrade the PTM and any weapon currently in your inventory at a Tech vendor, who you’ll find at most bases in the Zone. The first one you’ll encounter is Lens in Zalissya, where you can spend a few hundred coupons on each of its three potential upgrades.
Upgrade | Slot | Bonus |
---|---|---|
Milled Parts Replaced with Stamped Parts | Body | 50% Weapon Weight Reduction |
Tin Coating on Barrel’s Inner Surface | Barrel | 20% Additional Bullet Velocity |
Extra Barrel Rifling | Barrel | 30% additional Armor-Piercing Power |
With these three enhancements, the PTM not only reduces the weight on your equipment load, but it will also allow for fewer required adjustments when aiming at enemies, especially those with helmets, enabling you to achieve more accurate and consistent headshots.
In the later stages of the game, it’s particularly crucial to make that second upgrade, given that many opponents tend to sport tougher armor.
As a fan, I must mention that when scouring the tech store, I couldn’t find two essential additions to my PTM arsenal: the elusive Pistol Suppressor and the high-capacity PTM Magazine.
Just as anticipated, the suppressor reduces the noise level of your shots, making it more stealthy if that’s your preference. The High-Capacity PTM Magazine, on the other hand, boosts the number of rounds the PTM can carry from 8 to 12. Acquiring these items might require a little extra effort, but they are not hard to come by.
Where To Find The Pistol Suppressor
In the game Stalker 2, there are multiple locations where you can acquire a Pistol Suppressor that works with the PTM, as well as other weapons. The simplest way to obtain one is by visiting the cache hidden in the Boiler House, which is accessible soon after completing the tutorial.
To attach the Suppressor, simply move it over the icon representing Skif’s Pistol or another PTM when that weapon is already equipped. To detach it, access the weapon settings (similar to where you would unload a weapon), then choose the suppressor. It will be removed from the weapon and return to your inventory.
Additionally, you may discover a suppressor within the Scrap Yard area, yet during the side quest titled “The Path to Redemption,” you’ll receive a weapon fitted with a suppressor at no cost.
How To Get The High-Capacity PTM Magazine
In our exploration of the game, we were able to locate just two of these High-Capacity PTM Magazines. Interestingly, they’re both situated within the Lesser Zone.
In the most profound region of the Sphere, during the ‘Behind Seven Seals’ mission, on a table within Solder’s chamber, you’ll find it.
Make certain to retrieve it while on the mission since we have no means of re-entering the basement of the Sphere after our escape.
You’ll find the simpler magazine location easily. It’s situated within a smaller structure on the western side, bordering the Northern Checkpoint. Feel free to visit it either before or after you complete ‘Behind Seven Seals’. On a nearby table close to some radio gear, you’ll spot the Magazine waiting for you.
Keep an eye on the guards that will likely be present throughout the match, as their location in the Lower Zone means they may not offer much challenge when it comes to advanced equipment in the latter stages of the game.
You have the option to purchase a Pistol Suppressor at any time, as it’s not necessary to hunt for it. However, keep in mind that these merchants can be found outside of the Lesser Zone. To be precise, they are situated beyond this area.
- Sidorovich at Rookie Village in Cordon, just east of the Lesser Zone.
- WO Komisarov at the Cement Factory in the northeast corner of the map.
- Ragman at Rostok, the large city on the map west of Garbage.
- Viktoria Dorozhnyuk at STC Malachite at the far west side of the map.
Among the vendors who deal in Pistol Suppressors, Sidorovich stands out as an excellent choice if you’re looking for one early in the game. This is because he’s located quite near the Lesser Zone, and his residence in the Rookie Village makes the eastern parts of the map more accessible. Additionally, the Rookie Village serves as a secure base for your operations.
