They stumble upon a tight-knit community that is being tormented by witches, with their leader being none other than the Crooked Man, a local devil who has an unsettling link to Hellboy’s past.
In the movie titled “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” Jack Kesy takes on the role of Hellboy, a character previously portrayed by Ron Pearlman and David Harbour in earlier versions. Joining Kesy are Jefferson White from “Yellowstone,” Adeline Rudolph known for her work in “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” Joseph Marcell famed for his role in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Leah McNamara recognized for her performances in “Vikings,” Hannah Margetson, and Martin Bassindale.

Hellboy Creator Reacts to The Crooked Man
Mike Mignola has openly expressed his concerns about how Hollywood has transformed his Hellboy comic book series. Despite the fact that Guillermo del Toro’s films from the 2000s, specifically Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy: The Golden Army (2008), remain the most popular and highly regarded screen adaptations of the character, they have faced criticism for straying too far from the dark and horror-focused atmosphere present in the original comics.
Director Neil Marshall, known for his work on “Descent” and “Game of Thrones”, struggled to keep control over the horror-action reboot of Hellboy (2019), resulting in a disjointed final product that seemed as if it was pieced together during production. This rough-around-the-edges film underperformed at the box office, earning just $55 million against a budget of $50 million, leaving the series in a holding pattern. However, Millennium Media later decided to collaborate with Mike Mignola on a more economical reboot, priced at around $20 million. As a result, “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” will only be shown in UK cinemas; it will not be released in theaters across the US.
As a devoted Hellboy fan, I can say that, from what I’ve heard from Mignola himself, “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” seems to be the most faithful adaptation of the comics in the series so far. And as a fellow enthusiast, it’s this kind of commitment to the source material that really gets me pumped!
In a previous statement, Mignola expressed his delight at how accurately the film adapts the comics. He noted concerns that essential elements might be lost during adaptation, but was reassured as many of his favorite scenes from the comics are indeed included. As he watched the footage, he found himself holding his breath in anticipation, exclaiming in disbelief at seeing these moments brought to life on screen, wondering if they would remain in the final cut of the movie.
