As a dedicated cinephile with decades of film-watching under my belt, I have been eagerly anticipating the latest addition to one of cinema’s most enduring franchises: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Having grown up with the original series and revisiting it numerous times over the years, I was thrilled to see a new installment hit cinemas this past spring.
As a movie enthusiast who’s been following the film industry for years, I must admit that this summer has truly outdone itself in terms of blockbuster releases. From the gritty and intense action of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Story” to the heart-pounding suspense of “A Quiet Place: Day One,” I’ve been absolutely captivated by the diverse range of films that have graced our screens this season. Add to that the long-awaited sequel to one of my all-time favorites, “Inside Out 2,” and the thrilling return of a classic with “Twisters,” it’s safe to say that my cinematic experience this summer has been nothing short of extraordinary!
Without a doubt, one contender for the title of the first big blockbuster hit of the year was “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” which premiered in movie theaters around May’s start as the latest addition to one of cinema’s most enduring franchises.
Under the guidance of Wes Ball, the movie took place several centuries following the stories told in the latest Andy Serkis productions. It presented a fresh cast of characters, some human and others primate, and established the foundation for a new three-part series.
