It’s worth noting that HP produces some exceptional value gaming monitors, one of which even received a top rating in my evaluations for 2024. Fast forward to CES 2025, and many models from the HP OMEN gaming monitor lineup are receiving updates, with a new addition to the family as well. The “G2” upgrade offers enhanced refresh rates and improved contrast, but for those seeking a more intelligent display, another option will be available soon.
Five upcoming monitors from HP OMEN cater to various budgets and preferences. If you’re after a budget-friendly monitor with top-notch performance or a curved ultrawide screen offering impressive visuals, the new HP OMEN series might just have the perfect fit for you. Personally, I’m thrilled about the enhanced HP OMEN 27qs G2, as it promises to improve an already excellent mid-range gaming monitor even further.
Five new OMEN monitors to suit every need

As I survey this new lineup of monitors, I’ll be starting in alphabetical order. First up is the economical choice, the HP OMEN 27 G2. It’s a 27-inch Full High Definition (FHD, 1080p) IPS LCD display that now boasts a swift maximum refresh rate of 180Hz, accompanied by a quick 1ms grey-to-grey response time. Additional features include VESA DisplayHDR 400 support, AMD FreeSync compatibility, and factory calibration to 99% of the sRGB color gamut. The subsequent monitor is the HP OMEN 27q G2, which mirrors the standard 27-inch HP OMEN gaming monitor in every aspect but offers a higher resolution of Quad High Definition (QHD, 1440p).
Among all of them, I find the HP OMEN 27qs G2 to be my top pick. It’s an upgrade from the HP OMEN 27qs I previously reviewed and still endorse. The new model boasts a slightly enhanced design, sporting rear-facing RGB lighting, and it incorporates IPS LCD Black technology in its panel, significantly improving contrast ratios to approximately 2,000:1. Moreover, the refresh rate has been boosted from 240Hz to an impressive 280Hz compared to last year’s version. Other features include NVIDIA G-Sync support, built-in speakers, extra USB ports, and all the benefits that came with its predecessors.

Following is the HP OMEN 32x, a noteworthy newcomer to the OMEN series that has piqued our interest lately. Unlike typical gaming monitors, this one doubles as a smart display, incorporating Google TV inside. The focus here is on game streaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming. It boasts a 32-inch, 4K IPS LCD panel with a swift 144Hz refresh rate, offering a more television-like experience, complete with a quad-speaker setup, support for Dolby Vision HDR, and additional features like screen mirroring and integrated Ethernet (for the Google TV OS).
To wrap up, we are now examining the HP OMEN 34c G2, an updated model of the HP OMEN 34c previously reviewed and highly rated by my colleague. The design remains similar with a 34-inch VA display boasting a 1500R curve and a 21:9 aspect ratio, maintaining its WQHD (1440p) resolution from the previous version. However, this year’s model boasts an enhanced refresh rate of 180Hz and a remarkable contrast ratio of 4,000:1. Unfortunately, it still lacks USB ports, and there seems to be no information about any potential improvements in the built-in speakers.
