As a lifelong Dragon Ball enthusiast who can recite the entire series from memory (well, almost), I must say this recent roster leak has sent shockwaves through our community. I’ve seen Goku transform more times than I’ve changed my underwear, but this revelation of potential new characters has me more excited than a Saiyan at the sight of a fresh set of Senzu Beans!

View Urgent ForecastFans of Dragon Ball who have been thrilled by the unexpected characters shown in each trailer for “Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero” might want to prepare themselves, as it appears that the rest of the fighting game’s roster (and possibly more) has been leaked. This leak comes after yesterday’s trailer for Dragon Ball GT characters, which was already surprising since people were only somewhat optimistic about the inclusion of Dragon Ball GT fighters, but the full leak revealing what’s yet to be released contains more deep cuts than fans anticipated would be included in the Dragon Ball game.
It appears that the leak originated from a media company that prematurely uploaded footage for “Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.” This unexpected early release happened to show a player scrolling through the game’s character roster. While some characters in the video were already familiar, others were quite surprising.
As a lifelong fan of Dragon Ball Z, I can’t help but be intrigued by the recent online buzz surrounding these newly revealed characters. With my years of watching and following the series, I recognize some familiar faces among those shown in the circulating tweets – figures like the enlarged Garlic Jr., a Frieza soldier from Bardock: The Father of Goku, another variant of our beloved hero Goku (this time, seemingly from Dragon Ball Daima), Toppo’s God of Destruction form, Tapion, and, most surprisingly of all, Dr. Wheelo.

Those are just a few of the characters newly revealed in these leaks, but the confusing thing is that these newly confirmed characters amount to more roster slots than Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero currently has to fill. With the Dragon Ball GT characters announced, there were only 10 characters left to go. The leaks consist of more than just 10 characters, however, so we’re either seeing DLC fighters here or fighters that will cause the roster to grow even larger than it was assumed to be. Given that the three different DLCs planned for the Dragon Ball game don’t even have release dates yet, it seems more likely that these are extra fighters coming to the base game which will make it so that Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has over 180 characters at launch.
“In one of the DLCs, Dragon Ball Daima is featured prominently, so it’s intriguing to notice a Goku version that seems similar to Daima in this roster. Pre-ordering the game gives you early access to three variations each for Gogeta and Broly, as well as one unidentified character who has never been playable in any Dragon Ball game before. Since a potential Daima Goku has appeared in leaked gameplay footage, many fans are speculating that this unknown pre-order character could be the Daima version of Goku.
In a recent statement, producer Jun Furutani of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero revealed that all base game characters will be disclosed prior to the game’s release, eliminating any surprise unlocks or hidden characters. This means we’ll find out soon if the leaked roster is correct, as more trailers are on their way to confirm or refute it.
