Huge Hollyoaks star ‘QUITS show after two years – and will film final scenes for explosive exit’

A huge Hollyoaks star has reportedly quit the show after just 18 months.

In the early part of 2024, Rita Simons, aged 48 and famously recognized for her role as Roxy Mitchell on EastEnders, began appearing in Hollyoaks as Warren Fox’s former partner, Marie Fielding, whom he had not seen for a long time.

Ever since she joined the cast, she’s found herself right in the thick of some of the show’s most dramatic storylines. Her sons, Abe (Tyler Conti) and Arlo (Dan Hough), have been key players in many of these villainous story arcs.

Currently, it appears that Rita is planning to depart from the series, and there’s speculation that her departure will be accompanied by an exciting plot twist which will unfold on screen towards the end of this year.

According to a source, Rita has thoroughly enjoyed each moment she’s spent on Hollyoaks, and making the choice to leave was not an easy one for her.

Two years ago, she relocated her entire existence to Liverpool primarily for the stage, and it’s been an exhilarating journey, yet the yearning for her hometown has become irresistible.

‘She’s found it challenging to juggle the job she adores with living in London, as it keeps pulling her there.’

The source mentioned that the management at Channel 4 has been understanding about her choice and skillfully prepared an impactful farewell for her character.

While Rita is sad to go, she’s said to be ‘excited’ to film the emotional scenes. 

This summer, it’s anticipated that Rita will film her last episodes. Her character is set to exit in the fall, with the episodes being aired then.

As October approaches, the popular British soap opera Hollyoaks is preparing for its 30th anniversary by organizing a grand month-long celebration.

Hannah, our boss, hinted playfully that a notable Hollyoaks stunt is underway, stating that it wouldn’t be a true Hollyoaks tribute without an impressive spectacle.

She also revealed a huge battle between two Hollyoaks titans will take centre stage for October.

After a 12-year absence, during which she died and then resurrected, Clare Devine has returned to her village. She’s gearing up for a confrontation with the notorious serial killer, Jez Blake, as they approach a significant milestone.

In early 2024, Rita stepped boldly onto the scene of Hollyoaks, playing the role of Marie Fielding, the tumultuous mom of Joel Dexter.

Her first appearance took place amidst a heated confrontation at a gender reveal event, as she unexpectedly intruded upon the McQueen household by swiping Mercedes’ dress and reigniting old conflicts within the family.

Right off the bat, I’ve been captivated by the fact that her character is the spark for chaos, setting off a whirlwind of drama spanning numerous narratives. There seems to be more than meets the eye with her re-entry into society after serving time in prison, hinting at concealed intentions that have me on the edge of my seat!
