The leading actor of “MJ The Musical,” Zelig Williams, went missing on October 3, according to a missing persons flyer. At the time he was last spotted, he was 28 years old and resided in Columbia, South Carolina. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, and brown sandals when last seen at his home.
As stated on a poster shared by Black and Missing, it’s reported that Zelig was last spotted while driving in the vicinity of Congaree National Park, and his vehicle has since been located there.
Initially, they thought there might have been a car accident involving him, based on a notification from his mobile device.
Approximately at 9:50 Thursday morning, he departed as usual, according to Williams’ aunt, Christine McLaughlin Barber. Around ten minutes later, they got an SOS signal from his mobile device, sent by one of his friends in New York, suggesting an accident.
However, they have since ruled out a car accident, according to the outlet.
As investigators look for the actor, his fellow Broadway performers, such as Hugh Jackman (with whom he worked on the 2019 concert tour “The Man. The Music. The Show”), are appealing to people with any relevant information to reach out to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
Jackman expressed his affection for Zelig and wished for his swift and secure return via an Instagram post on October 10th, as reported by Us Weekly. He kindly asks that this message be relayed to others!
Regarding his family, they are encouraging nearby inhabitants to provide any potential leads about his location.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, October 10th, Barber expressed that our current situation is beyond words. He kindly asks everyone to keep sharing his pictures and videos. By doing so, we spread his story far and wide, reaching more people in various regions, even countries.
She added, “Please continue to pray pray pray for Zelig to come home safe. WE LOVE YOU ZELIG.”
Apart from portraying Marlon Jackson, a band member of The Jackson 5, in the Michael Jackson musical, Williams secured another role in 2015, joining the cast of Hamilton as an ensemble performer.
Earlier this month, he celebrated a more personal milestone by ringing in his 28th birthday.
Williams expressed on Instagram on September 11 that the feeling of starting anew at 28 came about because he fully committed himself to Christ. This commitment is an ongoing one, a daily ‘yes’ to following Him, letting go of old habits, praising Him, making changes, listening, and surrendering control.
