Humble Games Lays Off Entire Team in the Wake of “Restructuring”

As a long-time fan of Humble Games and their unique portfolio of indie titles, I am deeply saddened by the news of the recent layoffs that affected their entire developer team. The impact of this decision on the individuals involved is profound, and it’s disheartening to see such a talented group of people lose their jobs in an industry that can be unpredictable at best.

As a passionate fan of Humble Games and their impressive portfolio of indie titles like Signalis, Unsighted, Prodeus, Ghost Song, Void Bastards, and more, I was dismayed to learn about their recent restructuring. This unfortunate event led to the layoff of around three dozen team members.

As for Humble Games’ announcement, the post reads:

In the current tough economic climate for independent game publishing, Humble Games has announced some significant changes to its business structure. This decision was not taken lightly and came after thorough consideration, aiming to secure the future of our developers and ongoing projects. It’s important to note that these adjustments will not affect Humble Bundle’s operations in any way. We fully understand the far-reaching consequences this decision has on Humble Games team members, and we share their concerns and feelings during this challenging time.

As a dedicated gamer and proud member of our team since 2017, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride in the world-class contributions we’ve made to the launch of incredible games. Transitioning through this new phase may be difficult, but rest assured, we’re fully committed to navigating it with as much empathy and understanding as possible.

As a long-time follower of the gaming industry and having worked as a developer for several studios over the years, I find it disheartening to see yet another round of layoffs at Humble Games. The official statement does provide some details about the restructuring, but it leaves many questions unanswered. For instance, what does it mean when the entire developer team is being let go? What will the “transition” entail for those affected?
