Hunt: Showdown 1896 Revealed With a Release Date and New Map

As a dedicated gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for the next big thing that will take my gaming experience to new heights. And today, Crytek announced something truly exciting: Hunt: Showdown 1896. This isn’t just an upgrade, it’s a whole new evolution of the game I’ve come to love.

Before its scheduled launch, Crytek unveiled “Hunt: Showdown 1896,” the next advancement of “Hunt: Showdown.” This updated version brings a new engine, enhanced performance, and attractive perks like an unveiled map. The exciting additions to “Hunt: Showdown 1896” will be available starting August 15th, allowing players to upgrade for free at that time.

Showdown will be updated to a new version called Hunt: Showdown 1896. If you own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, your current versions of the game will no longer be playable. However, if you have a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or a PC, you’ll receive a free upgrade to the new version. This is not just an suggestion but a necessary step, similar to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive transitioning to Counter-Strike 2.

The main reason for the release of the updated version of Hunt: Showdown, titled Hunt: Showdown 1896, is its compatibility with CRYENGINE 5.11. With this engine upgrade comes enhanced visuals, audio, and other improvements. To demonstrate the capabilities of the new engine, a fresh map named “Mammon’s Gulch” will debut alongside Hunt: Showdown 1896}. This map transports players from the bayou to Colorado. A teaser trailer for the new map has been unveiled to give fans a sneak peek of what lies ahead.

Based on community input, Mammon’s Gulch in Hunt: Showdown 1896 includes 16 complexes and innovative strategic perspectives for experienced hunters. The developers shared that they received extensive feedback praising the verticality of DeSalle, so they amplified this aspect in the new map. In fact, Mammon’s Gulch boasts some of the highest elevation points across all maps, enabling players to scout enemy positions from a bird’s eye view.

The new map will need to be learned by players right away since Crytek mentioned that the current maps will undergo changes only after the game’s release.

The developers are thrilled to unveil “Mammon’s Gulch” in Hunt: Showdown 1896, blending beloved features from past maps with new content to offer a distinctive and exploratory environment. Rest assured, the classic bayou maps will make a comeback following an upgrade post-release.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 launches on August 15th.
