As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must admit, I was initially taken aback by the unexpected collaboration between Post Malone and Hunt: Showdown 1896. However, after delving deeper into this intriguing partnership, I’ve come to appreciate the fusion of music and gaming in a unique and immersive way.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but be astounded by the surprising partnership between Grammy-nominated artist Post Malone and the PVE shooter game “Hunt: Showdown 1896.” This renowned musician is set to join forces with the game for its largest event ever, officially named Post Malone’s Murder Circus. In the official trailer for this extraordinary event, Post Malone appears dressed in traditional circus attire, assuming the role of the Deposed King – a former ringmaster whose twisted carnival has been tainted by HelioStone’s malevolent power. The trailer, released by Crytek, also unveiled that the event will take place from December 12 of this year and continue until February 10, 2025. Don’t miss out on this unique experience – check it out below!
As stated in Crytek’s announcement, this temporary event immerses players into a twisted carnival-like world with a violent past, which leaves its imprint on the Bayou, the Gulch, and other locations. Some might find it unusual to associate Post Malone with this game, but the musician has been an ardent fan of it since a friend on tour introduced him to it. In a conversation with Game Director Scott Lussier, Post Malone shared his affection for “Hunt: Showdown 1896” by disclosing, “When I’m traveling and can’t play, I always miss it. I’ve likely spent around 400 hours on it.” The artist cited the game’s connection to reality, as well as its various weapons and cosmetic items, as reasons for his fondness towards it.
Post Malone is no slouch when it comes to teaming up with video game companies. In 2021, he collaborated with The Pokemon Company for their 25th anniversary by performing Hootie and the Blowfish’s classic hit “Only Wanna Be With You” in a virtual concert. Later in November 2023, he joined forces with Apex Legends for a limited-time event called “Three Strikes,” where he designed exclusive cosmetics for the game. More recently, he worked with Backbone Accessories to create a special edition controller and made his WWE debut in WWE 2K24 with the Post Malone & Friends Pack. Rumors also suggest that he might appear in Fortnite during the upcoming season.
Initially launched for PC in August 2019, Hunt: Showdown subsequently came out on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This multiplayer first-person game revolves around a bounty hunter battling legendary beasts while simultaneously trying to stay alive against other competitors. Upon release, it received favorable feedback, with many praising its unique gameplay mechanics. This year, the game was updated as Hunt: Showdown 1896 and made available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in August. The Post Malone event signifies the first collaboration for the game.
