Hunt: Showdown Permanently Gets Cheaper, but With a Catch

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for Hunt: Showdown, I’m glad to see Crytek making some adjustments to the game’s pricing. The base game price decrease is a welcome change for those who haven’t yet tried it or want to play on another platform. However, the potential increase in DLC prices has me a bit concerned.

Hunt: Showdown undergoes price adjustments for its base game and DLCs, bringing potential benefits and drawbacks. Crytek unveiled this week their intentions to reduce the cost of the fundamental game, offering relief to those hesitant or intending to play on alternate platforms. However, in conjunction with this decrease, certain DLC prices might increase according to Crytek’s statement.

I, as a dedicated fan of Hunt: Showdown, can share that Crytek has made the decision to alter the game’s prices in light of the significant updates coming with the August launch. These changes include an engine upgrade and additional features. As of July 11th, the base game’s price on PC has been adjusted. The game had just concluded a sale where it was available for under $15, but now that the promotion has ended, the price has risen to $29.99. Despite this increase, it is still a more affordable option than before, as Hunt: Showdown previously retailed for $39.99 prior to the permanent price reduction. The same price adjustment is planned for August 15th on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game.

In contrast to the base game, Hunt: Showdown’s downloadable content (DLC) prices are fluctuating. Crytek has announced that some DLC prices will rise while others will drop, but they have not identified which specific DLCs will be affected. With over 50 DLC options available on Steam, a cursory examination reveals minimal price modifications thus far. These DLC packages typically include various Hunters and weapons. Currently, the priciest DLC costs $14.99, which is not excessively expensive for additional content in this category.

Crytek announced that these modifications will influence DLC pricing as well. Prices may fluctuate in different regions for all upcoming updates regarding The Blood Bonds. The company stated their intention to keep Hunt economically balanced and available on a global scale, while ensuring continuous development and introduction of fresh content for the game.

Hunt: Showdown‘s pricing changes are live on PC now with console changes to happen next month.
