Hunter x Hunter Resumes Work on Manga Following Recent Health Concern

As a die-hard fan of Yoshihiro Togashi’s work, I’ve been through the rollercoaster ride that is his health issues and the delays they bring to our beloved series. But let me tell you, it’s not easy being a fan when your favorite mangaka can’t even wipe properly due to back pain! Yet, here we are, with Togashi teasing us once again with color updates for Hunter x Hunter just days after confirming his aggravated condition.

The popular manga series “Hunter x Hunter” is preparing for its grand return, and naturally, everyone’s attention is on its creator Yoshihiro Togashi. Known as a stalwart in the manga community, it’s challenging to find another creator as cherished. Despite his health problems, which have temporarily slowed him down, Togashi is far from retiring. In fact, “Hunter x Hunter” is set to resume publication in October, and Togashi has continued working on it even during a recent health relapse.

The news originates directly from Togashi himself, who posted two images on social media for his followers. In one picture, the artist acknowledges a recent health issue: “I had an injury in the restroom and strained my back… I’ll continue coloring,” he wrote. In another post, Togashi hinted at further color updates for Hunter x Hunter, as it prepares to resume publication in Shonen Jump.

A new announcement has been made over a week since Togashi shared on Twitter that his back issues had returned. This concerning news sparked support among fans who implored him to rest. After all, the success of Hunter x Hunter is largely due to its creator, and nothing matters more for Togashi’s wellbeing than his health.

It’s no secret that the artist has been honest about his declining health, which has affected him for quite some time now. Togashi is a well-known figure in the manga world, having gained fame with “Yu Yu Hakusho” and then “Hunter x Hunter”. By 2006, the demanding schedule he maintained under Shonen Jump took its toll on him. As a result, “Hunter x Hunter” started to take frequent breaks to allow for his health concerns. In correspondence with fans, Togashi has disclosed that even simple tasks like wiping in the bathroom have become challenging due to his back pain, and he often draws while lying down to minimize strain on his spine.

Despite his health being precarious, Togashi persists in his work on “Hunter x Hunter”. The manga is set to resume from its recent break in October, promising new content for fans. If you’d like to get up-to-speed before its return, the series can be found on Viz Media’s Shonen Jump app. For more details about the storyline, you can read the official synopsis provided below:
