From the get-go, I was thoroughly satisfied with the construction of the HyperX Cloud MIX 2. It boasts a flexible yet robust design, sporting a compact yet substantial framework that doesn’t feel cumbersome. Wearing it feels effortless, making it ideal for long hours, such as when I listen to music while working. Given my concern for comfort due to my eyeglasses, I’ve encountered numerous headsets that either caused discomfort instantly or became more uncomfortable over time. However, with the HyperX Cloud MIX 2, the level of comfort remains consistently high, whether it’s on the first day of testing or after extended usage.

The sound quality is quite good overall, offering a slight warmth that enhances music listening enjoyment. However, certain game audio seemed slightly less dynamic, though adjusting the balance made for an enjoyable gaming session, whether I was evading energy beams in Helldivers 2 or playing another round in Balatro.

A notable feature is the advanced noise-canceling function, which isn’t typically something I personally use (given my furry companions that require my attention at times). However, when tested, it effectively blocks out a majority of common noises, making it an ideal choice for those who struggle to concentrate in the presence of background distractions.

So far, these estimates appear to be correct, as the battery lasted more than 100 hours under a mix of uses before requiring a recharge, despite me accidentally leaving it on overnight. Interestingly enough, the most challenging aspect of testing this headset was waiting for the battery to drain sufficiently to charge it again.

With its exceptional battery power, this headset charges rapidly, reaching approximately 25% from about 10% within mere minutes. A complete charge takes slightly over an hour after being connected to my desktop. This is currently one of the best battery lives in any gaming headset on the market, meaning most users would only need to recharge it once a week or less.

Although HyperX advertises the headset’s advanced AI microphones, I discovered that the audio quality of recordings was quite average. Additionally, since the background noise reduction is effective, you may find yourself needing to speak louder if you have a soft voice.

For those who currently utilize a separate microphone for playing multiplayer games on the computer or video recording, it might be best to continue with your current setup.

Although I generally appreciate the design as a whole, there’s one minor issue I’ve noticed: the volume control wheel at the bottom of the headset. It’s conveniently placed for use, but it can sometimes be accidentally bumped when putting on or taking off the headset.
