I bought this game even though I don’t own an Xbox Series X|S or a gaming PC

  • Forza Horizon 4 will be delisted from digital storefronts on December 15.
  • After that, you will be unable to purchase the game digitally.
  • Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition is on sale for 80% off right now.

As a tech enthusiast with an eye for great deals and a soft spot for games set in my homeland, I couldn’t resist the temptation to grab Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition despite not owning an Xbox or a gaming PC. With its UK setting and the LEGO DLC looking like a blast, it was a no-brainer when I saw it was 80% off.

Despite not having an Xbox or gaming PC, I recently decided to purchase Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition. This edition isn’t a collector’s item or physical copy; instead, it’s a digital version. The deep discount on the game (80% off) wasn’t what attracted me, nor was the fact that any device with a screen can be considered an Xbox. Rather, I bought it because, starting next week, I won’t be able to acquire the game through digital marketplaces anymore.

On December 15, 2024, due to licensing arrangements, Forza Horizon 4 will no longer be available for purchase on digital marketplaces. After this date, you won’t be able to buy the game or its DLC packs from these online stores. However, you might still find digital codes or physical editions of the game in coming days, but your chance to buy it digitally is running out soon.

I’ve wanted to play Forza Horizon 4 for a while since the game is based in the UK (I live in Nottingham, England). The LEGO DLC also looks like a blast. But I’ve never gotten around to playing it extensively since I don’t have an Xbox Series X or an Xbox Series S. Admittedly, I can stream Forza Horizon 4 through my Samsung TV using Xbox Cloud Gaming — though that option will go away this week. But in the future, I want to enjoy Forza Horizon 4 at its best, and that will be on an Xbox Series X or a gaming PC.

Initially released in 2018, Forza Horizon 4 has undergone significant improvements for the Xbox Series X. Over time, it’s been expanded with two DLC packages and numerous new vehicles, such as the LEGO Speed Champions experience and a collection of Hot Wheels cars. As Richard Devine stated in 2024, “Forza Horizon 4 is nothing short of a Masterpiece.” Given these enhancements and its continued improvement, purchasing it for less than $20 offers exceptional value.

The LEGO Speed Champions DLC originally cost $20. At that time, Devine described it as one of the most enjoyable experiences you’d have all year, stating that if you needed a reason to revisit Forza Horizon 4, this was it. Since I didn’t own an Xbox back then, it didn’t seem necessary to buy the game. However, since Forza Horizon 4 is set to be taken off digital storefronts soon, I decided to purchase the game as I intend to get an Xbox in the future.

Is Forza Horizon 4 going away?

As an analyst, I want to clarify that Forza Horizon 4 will no longer be available for purchase on digital storefronts starting December 15, 2024. However, this does not mean the game will cease to function. If you already own a copy, you can continue playing it without any interruptions. Moreover, the online multiplayer feature is expected to remain active even after delisting, allowing you to keep racing with friends.

Zachary Boddy provides a comprehensive breakdown in his article as to why Forza Horizon 4 will no longer be available for purchase on digital marketplaces. He addresses common queries such as the removal timeline for Forza Horizon 4, whether access to the game will cease, and if there’s an opportunity to buy the game post its end-of-life date.

Essentially, this means that if you’ve already purchased the game, you can carry on playing it. To ensure you have it in your digital collection before December 15, 2024, I’m getting it right away.

The game, Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition, is on sale until December 12, 2024, with an 80% discount. If you’re certain you want this title in your collection, it’s advisable to purchase it as soon as possible. The sale ends in a few days. Other editions of the game are also discounted, but the Ultimate Edition comes with two DLC expansions, Fortune Island and LEGO Speed Champions, along with numerous cars and perks. Once Forza Horizon 4 is withdrawn from sale, you will no longer be able to buy any additional content for it, so if you’re interested in these expansions, now is the time to act. The Ultimate Edition is your best bet to experience all that Forza Horizon 4 has to offer.
