I Don’t Understand You’s Directors Revealed The One Death They Were ‘Not Allowed’ To Put In The Movie, And I’m Happy They Didn’t

Beware: Spoilers for “I Don’t Understand You” lie ahead! If you’re planning to catch this project in cinemas as per the 2025 film calendar, it’s already playing in theatres now.

In the film “I Don’t Understand You,” there are numerous surprising and amusing moments that leave you feeling both entertained and disturbed. During a recent conversation with the directors of an upcoming horror movie, they shared a death scene they were forbidden to include. Frankly, I’m relieved it didn’t make it into the film.

During my conversation with David Joseph Craig and Brian Crano regarding their latest horror-comedy project, I inquired about the selection of deaths depicted in the film and whether any concepts didn’t make it to the final cut. Given that an entire Italian family met their demise at the hands of characters portrayed by Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells (Dom and Cole), I assumed there might have been other potential victims in the script. However, what they disclosed about the discarded ideas was surprising, as Craig explained that certain scenes were eliminated from the movie.

It seems that there’s a rule against depicting the killing of domestic pets in films. Consequently, we initially encountered some rather unusual…

As a film enthusiast, let me tell you, I was taken aback just by the initial revelation. But then, Brian Crano took it a step further, revealing an intriguing tidbit – they initially conceived a plot twist where Dom and Cole were implicated in the deaths of some dogs!

Initially, they unintentionally killed some dogs. Surprisingly, the only things their characters seemed to care about were slaughtering numerous people. However, when they realized what they had done to the dogs, they expressed disbelief, saying something like, ‘I can’t believe we shot those dogs.’ Regrettably, we couldn’t hide our actions.

It’s good to know that they weren’t able to escape the consequences. To be honest, I prefer watching films where the dog survives or is entirely absent from the distressing incident, if possible nine more times out of ten.

When I’m watching a film featuring animals, particularly dogs, and there’s a possibility they might perish, I can’t help but check if they survive or not. If the animal dies, I usually stop watching. This is why their decision to include such a scene makes sense to me, even though it’s difficult for me to accept. I appreciate the intention behind the inclusion and understand why it was considered necessary.

Dom and Cole appeared unfazed or undisturbed by the lives they took, at least from my perspective. They seemed to recover swiftly from those losses. This observation amuses me a bit, for if their greatest emotional turmoil stemmed from the deaths of dogs, it would have been ironic indeed.

To be honest, I was quite fond of the notion involving a dog, but it seems that idea didn’t make the cut. Instead, they opted for some lively goats, much to my amusement, as David Joseph Craig playfully quipped.

So, now there are goats that stay alive, which are beautiful goats.

I’ll say it again, thank goodness no dogs died, and they went with goats that stayed alive instead.

This movie, titled “I Don’t Understand You,” is both hilarious, thanks to the talents of Kroll and Rannells, and genuinely chilling. The plot unfolds as these characters unwittingly cause a tragedy after multiple mix-ups and misinterpretations, culminating in the unfortunate demise of an entire family. While it’s certainly outlandish, I must admit that the possibility of them being responsible for the deaths of innocent dogs might have been too intense for me to handle comfortably.

In another words, they could have possibly escaped punishment for their actions, but if the dogs were taken away, the guilt and regret would have remained with them perpetually.

During their Italian holiday, neither Dom nor Cole caused harm to any animals. To witness all the authentic events unfold, catch the movie “I Don’t Understand You” in theatres instead.
