As a tech-savvy individual who’s always on the lookout for innovative gadgets, let me tell you about my latest find – the XREAL Beam. Now, I know what you might be thinking: another gadget to add to the pile? But trust me, this one is different!

Without a doubt, I must acknowledge there’s a condition with this suggestion. You’ll undoubtedly require a set of AR glasses, such as the discounted XREAL Air 2 Pro. However, the XREAL Beam is the key ingredient that provides you with a personal cinema experience anytime, anywhere, without needing a laptop, gaming handheld, or smartphone. With Prime Day discounts lowering the XREAL Beam to just $99, it’s certainly a worthwhile purchase.

As an Analyst, I wholeheartedly endorse the XREAL Beam as an indispensable companion for your AR (Augmented Reality) glasses. This versatile tool offers you numerous possibilities on how to utilize it, making it a must-have accessory at its affordable price point.

Your own personal cinema without sacrificing battery on your other devices

Although the XREAL AR glasses are incredibly smart and impressive, they currently require an external device to display content directly into your eyes. However, you have the flexibility to connect them to your phone, computer, or portable devices such as the Steam Deck or ROG Ally for functionality.

Instead of relying on your phone for Netflix sessions, why not opt for the Beam instead? This device comes in handy when you want to unwind and watch some Netflix comfortably, whether on the couch or in bed. Using my phone would require keeping the screen on, which ultimately drains the battery and distracts me from important notifications or endless social media scrolling.

The Beam replaces your other devices for the purpose of consuming media. It comes preloaded with Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and VLC, which covers the two biggest streaming platforms and personal video files. As it’s Android at its core, you can load your own files onto the Beam, and also download content from Netflix and Prime to watch when you don’t have a data connection. You’re also, if you’re comfortable, able to sideload other apps. I’ve got a full guide on sideloading Android apps onto the XREAL Beam to help you out.

The Beam can act as a liaison for other devices by connecting them to its input. By utilizing this function, you gain additional flexibility over the screen size within your glasses, allowing for adjustments and altering its behavior. Instead of pausing Netflix when going to the kitchen, you can simply minimize the display and relocate it to a corner, continuing your entertainment without interruption. Furthermore, unwanted notifications are kept at bay. All in all, although it has its limitations, the Beam does an impressive job, making me admire it greatly.
