In a game such as Atomfall, battles can take various outcomes. To put it simply, when it comes to choosing between ranged and melee combat, I personally prefer keeping my distance and using ranged attacks, taking down enemies one by one before moving forward.

So far, I’ve predominantly employed both a rifle and a pistol in my gameplay of Atomfall, with ammunition being sparse. However, landing headshots tends to be quite effective more times than not.

The issue I’ve been facing is finding the right mix between keeping my stock adequately filled with weapons for crafting upgrades, and discarding old, rusty ones that are no longer useful.

However, I later discovered an unquestionably essential weapon for the entire game. I can’t help but wish I’d stumbled upon it earlier as it would have significantly simplified my life in the Cumberland wilderness.

Introducing Atomfall’s Modified JM-3

The Modified JM-3 checks all the necessary boxes. It’s a fast-firing semi-automatic rifle with impressive damage, precision, and speed. Moreover, it is the unique weapon in Atomfall equipped with a sight.

This scope maintains a constant magnification level, making it less like a sniper rifle but still quite effective compared to the iron sights on other guns. Therefore, it simplifies the process of landing precision shots that save ammunition, and it’s capable of this at longer distances. Essentially, it effortlessly destroys targets.

Apart from its excellent performance, another key advantage of the Modified JM-3 is that it doesn’t require any updates or upgrades. Unlike other models that may require additional tiers, this one stands alone, eliminating the need for you to collect multiple versions to complete your collection. Essentially, when you get the Modified JM-3, you’re getting the best version available.

As soon as I grasped this weapon, it felt like the whole game shifted dramatically. Engaging in long-range battles became almost effortless. You absolutely need it!

How to get your hands on the Modified JM-3

The positive aspect is that the upgraded JM-3 can be found easily on the map, no further investigation required. However, there’s a catch – you’ll need to do some basic preparations before heading out to retrieve it.

To proceed, it’s essential that you have the map for Skethermoor on hand, and you should feel confident in taking out a few Feral creatures. It’s not overly difficult, but if you don’t have a method for dealing with the Ferals swiftly, they could potentially cause harm to you.

In Skethermoor, make your way towards coordinates 41.2E, 79.4N. That’s where you’ll stumble upon the hidden cave, which I call the Secluded Cave.

Upon stepping into the cavern, there’s an eerie silence, which remains unbroken until you reach the central room. The Feral creatures will be positioned on the other side of this chamber, maintaining a reasonable distance from your entrance.

I advise adopting a low position and creeping quietly towards them, followed by throwing a few incendiary devices (Molotov cocktails) in their vicinity. This approach minimizes your exposure and maintains a safe distance.

To locate the Modified JM-3, veer left immediately upon entering the main chamber. You’ll notice a snug passageway along the wall; proceed to pass through it.

In the room you currently find yourself, you will notice the Modified JM-3 lying on the ground, belonging to its former possessor. This item occupies one of your available larger storage spaces, so ensure you’ve got an extra slot available before picking it up.

Once you reach Skethermoor, make your way to the cave and retrieve the Enhanced JM-3. Trust me, it will drastically transform your gaming experience.
