Ice Age 6 Officially Announced by Original Stars in Hilarious Video

As a cinephile who has been around the block more times than I care to remember, it’s always a delight to see the return of a beloved franchise that brings back nostalgic memories. The announcement of Ice Age 6, with the original cast returning, is like hearing the familiar jingle of an old ice cream truck on a hot summer day – it just feels right!

The much-anticipated sixth installment of the Ice Age series has been confirmed! Starring Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, and John Leguizamo, these beloved characters from the animated movies recently appeared in a promotional video for Disney’s D23 Brazil Expo to announce that production on movie number six is underway!

Romano performs a scene for the video, where he’s convincingly portrayed as being in a wintery setting that’s actually a soundstage. Latifah gives off an impression of sending the chilly wind and artificial snowflakes to Romano, in line with their promotional strategy. Lastly, John Leguizamo unexpectedly appears at the end, from another location entirely, to crack a joke about the group returning, implying he needs to contact everyone on his phone about it.

Ice Age 6 Officially Announced by Original Stars in Hilarious Video

The “Ice Age” film series commenced in 2002, soon emerging as one of the top-grossing animated franchises for 20th Century Fox. The narrative revolves around a grumpy, solitary mammoth named Manny (Romano), who befriends an oddball sloth named Sid (Leguizamo) and a saber-toothed tiger named Diego (Leary). Together, they create their unique “herd.

The subsequent films in the series introduced more members to our beloved family, such as Manny’s wife Ellie (played by Latifah); Ellie’s opossum companions Crash (Seann William Scott) and Eddie (Josh Peck); Simon Pegg as Buck, a one-eyed weasel and dinosaur hunter; Diego’s wife Shira (portrayed by Jennifer Lopez); Manny and Ellie’s daughter, Peaches (Keke Palmer); Wanda Sykes as Sid’s grandmother; along with several others. The series utilized the prehistoric Earth setting to explore various geological events like the Ice Age, dinosaur, mammal, and human evolution, continental shifts on Earth, and even the hypothetical asteroid that supposedly led to the extinction of dinosaurs as themes for its individual installments.

The storyline for the Ice Age franchise will carry on with four additional sequels: “Ice Age: The Meltdown” (2006), “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” (2009), “Ice Age: Continental Drift” (2012), and “Ice Age: Collision Course” (2016). After that, a spinoff titled “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild” is scheduled for 2022 following the Disney-Fox merger. Additionally, you’ll find numerous shorts showcasing our beloved characters Scat the Squirrel and Sid the Sloth (played by Leguizamo), as well as two television specials.

Previously, it was uncertain what the future held for Ice Age at Disney, given its aging status and lower priority compared to other animation classics at the studio. However, recent hints from some cast members suggest that a sixth movie might be in production, and it has now been confirmed…
