Iconic Saw Star Set to Return for Saw 11 Despite Character's Death

As a gamer who’s seen his fair share of horror movies and played countless hours of survival games, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation at the prospect of Tobin Bell reprising his iconic role as John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, in Saw XI. The Saw franchise has always been one of my favorites for its unique blend of suspense, gore, and mind-bending puzzles, and I’ve followed the story of Jigsaw since its inception.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Tobin Bell, who played Jigsaw in the Saw franchise since its debut in 2004, has confirmed that he will return as John Kramer (the Jigsaw Killer) in Saw XI. Since Jigsaw was killed off in Saw III, his return suggests that the new installment could be set shortly after the events of Saw X, which is chronologically before Saw III in the franchise’s timeline. Bell hinted that there are still chapters left in Jigsaw’s story to be told.

Bell expressed great enthusiasm about further nurturing his growth, stating, “John Kramer still has a lot to teach us.

Besides acknowledging that portraying the character for such an extended period might limit his roles, Bell emphasized that his primary goal is to deliver a “deep and rewarding acting performance.

He expressed, “If being stereotyped allows me to deliver a profound acting performance – the reason I chose this career – then by all means, stereotype me. It is an artist’s duty to produce within their given circumstances and it’s my task to alter your view of me. If you desire to see me in a specific light, perhaps you’ll view me differently when you watch my next project.

Regarding Bell’s comeback, it’s worth noting that the demise of Jigsaw in “Saw III” was a topic discussed by director Kevin Greutert, implying that the continuation of the series might have been more straightforward if Jigsaw’s death hadn’t occurred so early on.

Greutert previously stated, “I believe there is a sense of regret.” He added, “If the events that transpired hadn’t occurred, creating these films would have been less complicated. However, the initial three movies in the Sa series are widely regarded as the best. Maintaining integrity by making a trilogy was crucial, and ending the character’s story decisively contributed to the greatness of the narrative, at least as it was perceived at the time. Yet, due to the necessity of producing additional films, we did our utmost to deliver quality work, even resorting to flashbacks in certain cases. To sum up, there is a strong desire that the character had not been killed off.

The upcoming eleventh installment of the “Saw” series is projected to hit cinemas in 2025. Make sure to stay tuned to ComicBook for further news regarding the “Saw” saga.
