If you haven't played Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 yet, you can try it FREE very soon — here's when

What you need to know

  • Black Ops 6 is already the biggest Call of Duty title to date after its first month, but there’s absolutely no sign of things slowing down.
  • Treyarch has revealed that a free trial week is coming, giving players the opportunity to jump in and enjoy multiplayer and Zombies, but not the campaign.
  • The free trial week is set to begin on December 13, and runs through to December 20.

As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must say this Call of Duty news has me all a-tingle! With Black Ops 6 being the biggest title yet for the franchise and now offering a free trial week, it’s like Christmas came early for us frugal gamers.

In exciting news for Call of Duty fans, following Black Ops 6 becoming the top-selling title in the series during its first month, Treyarch has announced that those who haven’t played the game yet will have a chance to do so at no cost! For a full week, you can enjoy the game completely free.

As a game analyst, I want to clarify that not every piece of content within the game is accessible during the trial version. Primarily, it’s just the campaign mode that’s unavailable in this initial stage.

Starting from December 13, the free trial period is active and runs through December 20. If you’ve been waiting, consider this a pre-Christmas gift!

The image posted by Treyarch appears to be lacking some features in multiplayer and Black Ops 6 Zombies. It seems that the trial does not include ranked play, and the upcoming Zombies map, Citadelle des Morts, which is set to release on December 5, also appears absent from it.

Additionally, you’ll find some fresh multiplayer maps joining the roster. These include the soon-to-be-released Hacienda, those that debuted with Season 1, and a holiday edition of Nuketown coming up. Furthermore, Prop Hunt mode, which was recently introduced last week, promises a lot of laughs for you to enjoy.

It’s unclear if the advancements you make during the free trial will persist when you eventually buy the game or play it through Xbox Game Pass. Ideally, they would, but since we’re still a bit away from release, further information should become available as we get closer to launch.

Without hesitation, I strongly encourage anyone still undecided to seize this opportunity during the free trial week and give the game a try. Game Pass rekindled my love for Call of Duty after a lengthy absence, but let me tell you, I’m having an incredible time with it. The fact that I invested around 200 hours into the game within the first month says a lot about how enjoyable it is. I rarely immerse myself in any game so deeply or quickly.

Even if you’re not a multiplayer fan, definitely check out Zombies. It’s all PvE, but can be played in co-op or solo, and with all the easter eggs to unlock, there’s plenty of gameplay to be enjoyed.
