As a devoted fan, I am utterly devastated by the tragic loss of Illia “Golem” Yefimchyk, a colossal figure not just in bodybuilding but in my heart as well. This giant among men, with his monstrous biceps and infectious humor, was more than just a bodybuilder to me; he was a symbol of perseverance, resilience, and the power of dreams.

The bodybuilding community has lost a standout member.

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Illia “Golem” Yefimchyk, often referred to as the “most fearsome bodybuilder” and “The Mutant,” on September 8th. This unfortunate news was confirmed by his wife, Anna Yefimchyk, to several local media outlets. He was just 36 years old.

On September 6th, as reported by 7 News, the Belarusian athlete experienced a sudden heart attack. His wife swiftly administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Later, he was flown by helicopter to a medical facility. Sadly, it was announced two days later that he had passed away.

Anna shared with the local press, “I stood by him each day, holding out hope, and miraculously, his heart began to beat again for two whole days. Unfortunately, however, the doctor delivered the grim news that his brain had ceased functioning.

Anna expressed her gratitude to Illia’s fans by stating, “It’s truly touching to know that I don’t stand alone in the world, and numerous individuals have extended their assistance and encouragement towards me.

Standing at six feet tall and tipping the scales at 340 pounds, Ilia garnered fame primarily due to his colossal 25-inch biceps and the cheerful, humorous content he shared on social media platforms.

Over the years, Illia documented his diet and workouts including drinking 20 protein shakes a day, eating a 103-piece sushi boat, and more, leading to a 16,500-calorie daily diet. He also spoke freely about his use of supplements, growth hormones and steroids on his YouTube and Instagram account, which amassed more than 300,000 followers.

8 long, blissful years with Illia by my side, and now we’re husband and wife since 2018. On September 10th, I poured out my heart on Instagram, “We’ve been two halves of a whole, surviving an extraordinary journey that most can’t experience in a century. My heart is shattered into a thousand fragments… This pain is indescribable… Life can change in the blink of an eye.

She also posted a black and white photo of her husband, writing, “Farewell to my superhero … love you.”
