After her final season with “Fuller House,” which was filled with Easter eggs, Candace Cameron Bure has mostly kept herself busy by expanding her career as a versatile creative for Great American Media and launching a new series of cozy movie mysteries starring Ainsley McGregor. (She’s also made appearances on “The Masked Singer” to pay tribute to Bob Saget.) In addition, she has remained active on social media and shared her experiences with the age-related criticism she encounters online.
Taking to Instagram Stories, where the day before she’d shared her thoughts on Sunday’s sermon, Bure posted a pic of a DM sent by a fan (for lack of a better word) who sent a screengrab of the actress talking, with the following message attached:
- “U look really old here…not aging well???”
This isn’t the only example I’ve encountered in my inbox.
Day after day, my inbox fills with such comments. While I enjoy engaging on social media, it’s moments like these that remind me of its pitfalls. As a woman of a certain age, I find myself unfazed by rudeness, but I can’t help but think about the impact this has on our kids. After all, they are our future and deserve better.
It didn’t take much time before Candace Cameron Bure posted another thoughtful message regarding the negative comments she encounters, possibly triggered by an increase in such messages following her previous post. It can be challenging to determine if the subsequent reactions were favorable or not. As she put it herself:
I recently posted that (piece of content), not out of a desire for pity, but rather to illustrate the types of messages I encounter on a daily basis. Aging can be delicate, and comments such as these have an impact, regardless of their intent – whether they were intended to be hurtful or simply expressed as an opinion. As I navigate this process, I strive to do so as organically and elegantly as possible, while embracing the journey of aging.
Regarding social media feedback, celebrities frequently find themselves in a no-win situation – criticized whether they act one way or another. For instance, Loretta Bure encounters harsh comments regarding her appearance at her age, but it’s noteworthy that if she didn’t opt for a natural look, there’s a strong chance she would still receive negative remarks about the results of any cosmetic procedures she might have chosen to undergo.
Bure pondered over the idea that perhaps the negativity shown by others stems from personal issues they are dealing with. In her own words:
“Bure contemplated the possibility that the negative behavior displayed by others might be rooted in their personal struggles.
It seems likely that those composing such messages are expressing, in some measure, their personal emotions towards themselves. My heart goes out to them, as I hope they experience the unconditional love of God. Let us strive to be compassionate, uplift one another, and spread happiness.
In her long-running career in entertainment, Candace Cameron Bure has expressed that she’s faced increased negativity from the public, particularly in recent years. Much of this criticism appears to stem from her statements about “traditional marriages” following her involvement with Great American Media. These remarks were reportedly at the center of a supposed dispute between Bure and fellow Full House actress Jodie Sweetin, though Sweetin later stated that the issue was overblown.
In the realm of returning to small-screen projects, Candace Cameron Bure will be stepping back into the shoes of criminologist Ainsley McGregor. This will occur in the second live-action adaptation of Candace Havens’ novels, with “A Case for the Winemaker” having premiered in 2024 as the first installment. The sequel, titled “Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Yarn Maker“, will feature Aaron Ashmore and Robin Dunne alongside her, with a recently released trailer available for viewing below!
The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries series, titled “The Case of the Yarn Maker,” is set to debut on Great American Pure Flix this coming Thursday, May 22nd.
