I’m in Survival Mode!

Katie Thurston is fighting for her life.

A former contestant on ‘The Bachelorette’ shared her experiences fighting breast cancer, explaining that she’s been operating in a state of survival as she navigates through her current treatment.

Katie clarified on the March 19 episode of Good Morning America that she was compelled to undergo treatment, which for her started with chemotherapy. She dislikes putting it this way, but essentially, if you have an appointment every day, you must attend – there’s no other option.

Previously on ‘FBoy Island’, one of its cast members disclosed that she received a diagnosis of Stage 3 triple-positive ductal carcinoma in February, following the discovery of a lump in her breast.

Katie shared, “At one point, I discovered a lump that was painful, but since many women are often reassured with comments like ‘It might be due to your period’ or ‘Maybe it’s from exercising,’ I ignored it for some time.” However, eventually, she made the decision to consult a doctor about it.

She went on to said that receiving her diagnosis is “the worst feeling I’ve ever felt.”

She went on to say, “You look utterly shattered, and I can understand why. At my age, I never expected something like this to happen.

Katie, who became engaged to comedian Jeff Acuri in September, also discussed how her heartbreaking diagnosis impacted her ability to create a life with her future spouse.

She mentioned, “Initially, we had imagined arranging a wedding and starting a family. However, it appears that this year will focus solely on treatment and recovery instead.

Previously, the marketing manager shared their thoughts on the idea of potentially starting a family together in the future.

Katie clarified that they have made every effort to take a forward-thinking approach regarding their future and family aspirations. She went on to mention that she had her eggs harvested after receiving her diagnosis. If in vitro fertilization wasn’t successful or if chemotherapy affected her reproductive health negatively, she was comfortable with the idea of being a childless couple.

In the midst of her personal struggle with cancer, Katie wishes that her journey might motivate women globally to take initiative and schedule regular screenings.

Katie remarked, “The main point I’m making is, ‘Act now, don’t delay.’ In other words, ‘Take action and have yourself examined.'” She added, “It might benefit you later on.
